Head-Unit - I had initially planned to run the entire setup off the Stock HU, reason being that I loved the Stock look and moreover It would keep prying eyes at bay, But then I happened to hear a friends car with some awesome gear like Morel Elates and DLS Ultimate Amp to name a few, but still was somehow not sounding right and i figured it to be that way coz of the stock HU of his CR-V which was a huge bottle-neck. I realized that if i wanted some serious sound then the stock HU had to go.
Now which HU?? Single Din's (though the perfect match to do justice to the rest of the gear) were ruled out because they would look odd sitting in the curvy SX4 dash, somehow I did not like it. Though i knew that something like the P99RS would have made a huge and i mean a huge difference to the end result but somehow i wanted some more bling and features and having a s****y touch screen upfront had always caught my fancy, So the option left was the Kenwood, JVC and Pioneer Double din touchscreen. Kenwood though the best of the lot was ruled out due to their supposed poor service related support atleast in Mumbai and i did not want to be stuck with service related issues when if i was buying their INR 60k HU.
Between JVC and Pioneer, I liked the Pio and even though it lacks the SQ of a high end HU and features like TA, Hi-Volt Pre-Outs. It was a compromise i was willing to live with coz i had planned to do something about it even before i had bought the HU.Soo that's definitely something that i shall be adding to this setup in the near future. Mind you, it won't be an upgraded HU (as i din't have any better choice in the 2-din category), rather it will be (ONE additional BIT) HINT. HINT. to the HU to make up for the lack of audiophile features in the HU.
Dashkit - Since the final dash-look was a huge concern, I procured the scosche SX4 dashkit from the states (as i wasn't at all happy with the fit and finish and uneven gaps between the HU and the dashkit of the scosche kits available in india, when the final look of the dash was top priority for me). I had the MGP dashkit as well and it was good. But that was only in comparison to the other kits available in the local market. But the US scosche kit was far superior and i knew even before i installed it that my concerns regarding the final look of the dash had been put to rest.
A pic of the HU test fitted into the dashkit. Notice almost zero gaps and the overall finish is almost bone-stock
cheers

@ Haresh - thanks a ton buddy for the appreciation. And regarding Mi10, well even i used to almost everyday dust the equipment even when it was stored safely in my bedroom, once in a while just open all the boxes up and day-dream how it will all sound together. Made sure even the boxes were dust-free. I guess thats what passion does to you. And i can totally relate to Mi10 on that front.
Mi10 - hehehe, Praveen we both know how tough its been to ICE our respective cars! Especially when family and friends find it insane and just fail to understand what we've been upto for years to put together something as basic as car audio. Though we almost started together in this quest of achieving good sound in our respective cars, you have been a huge source of inspiration.
cheers

Prince I am following your path of collecting ... investing (dead investment in eyes of family) on my ICE planning to make space for the boxes in a wardrobe so that no dust or corruption comes to it! Starting soon with a BitOne!
