Very Informative thread.
Once you finsh with it I suggest you jot down the brands and their strengths. This will make each ICE'r happy on which path to follow for his requirements.![]()
...will it Will it not......
That was a good read mullah, you wrote about ICE and I got a Hardon.![]()
Keep em Cumming![]()
Did u hear that noise ? Just Ignore it.
That is some LOL and informative writing zakky.![]()
If the speakers part is not finished, include the RMS/Peak power rating clarification of the speakers and whether underpowering/overpowering the speakers is an issue.
Great thread Zak! This is the most funniest and at the same time informative post i've read in a long while!![]()
i can see in my stock verna, if i put the volume to max, with some hip hop or Linkon park going on, the whole car will start vibrating... the doors, rear view mirrors even the wipers will shiver ...
can i solve it by installing this spacer rings?

I think it's time I start typing on this thread.
But, my current scenario doesn't allow me to sit long on my comp.
I will try doing it.
SilverRocket, you need to damp the car. Why don't you start a thread with this query?
It is a big subject by itself!

I see and I remember.
I do and I understand..”
roger that..
will post the query at the Verna Problems thread

What is watt is a watt is what?
Yes, I am back to my typing days, I suppose.
Last 2 weeks have been a bit too complicated. Hospital(s), doctor(s), nurses!!!! Injections... Pediatricians!!! Damn!! Screwed and stuck!
Well, it is a bit tooo much to explain. All said and done, I couldn't spend some quality time here in this thread. So, SORRY!
Coming back to the WATTS,
No, not warts or farts. I mean WATTS.
Watt is simply a unit used to measure/understand energy in electrical terms. In ICE also, it ain't different. When it is applied on speakers, it says how much units of electrical energy is the speaker capable of taking in and successfully converting it into sound waves.
Now, we should understand that there are different ways used by manufacturers to manipulate this term, watt.
RMS: This is the value of a speaker's watt handling capability in continous wave form. Means, when a specific amount of energy is feeded into the speaker at a continuous rate and measured, the value (result) will be classified as RMS.
PMPO: This is the value of a speaker's watt handling capability in short bursts of energy. Means, when a speaker is fed with normal waves/notes and sudden bursts/notes with higher energy levels are fed in between for a very short period (seconds/milli seconds) and the peak watt handling capability is measured, the value (result) will be classified as PMPO. This is also known as PEAK. Some call it ****!
Most manufacturer's like to quote PMPO figures on their speakers as it will be atleast 4 times (sometimes upto 10 times) bigger than the RMS figures. Bigger the dUck, stronger the fOrk, right???![]()
RMS is an authentic and better true form of understanding the capability of a speaker and it's performance..
So, let's dump the ****O for now. Whenever I say WATT ahead, please understand it is in RMS.
So, how much WATTS do you need?
A normal human being, while sitting at his home, his ears will be satisfied with a normal 3 Watts (RMS) speaker. In car surroundings, a speaker which can handle 6 Watts (RMS, dumbos!) will do.
But then, an automobile is an automobile is an automobile. RIGHT??
To come back to the insane senile and penile thoughts, a speaker which is capable of handling 18 Watts (RMS) will be good enough to recreate some good music in your car.
The more higher you go, it will be all about detailing, refinement, headroom, show off, purity and stuff which are just all about ICE, ICE babe!!!!
Remember, this 18 watts speaker will often be quoted by the manufacturers as a 140W speaker! Eight times the rating!!
Another important thing to note while choosing the speaker is that no matter how much watts your speaker is capable of, unless you match it with a similar (watt) capable amplifier or HU, it is just like asking Jenna Jameson to spend a night with a 12 year old kiddo! Or Pamela Anderson going to church with just a 32B bra on! :lolno:
Also note that certain speakers are very energy efficient (by birth, by design). Means, that they will perform good even if they are fed with far less power than what they are rated. But some speakers are very thirsty. Means, they need some good amount of power (atleast 75% of what they are rated) to perform good.
So, always try and match the watt output of your HU/AMP with your speakers. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!
Anything more???
Please ask!!
