Red face Ford Figo Ownership report including performance mods 1yr, 8500kms and counting

It was a year ago that I purchased my FIGO after I sold my honda city due to some orthopedic complications. Since then its been drives mainly to the office, a couple of long drives, and about 8500 kms till date. I have already posted a review of the ford figo earlier on when i test drove it. What you guys dont know is that i bought the car < 1 month after that review. Through these 12 months, I have gone through mixed experiences with my figo which I will begin to share here on this thread as and when possible. Wear your seat belts and lets start then.

It's what you learn after you know it all that counts.

Ok i got some more time. I have owned six cars in total. 2 800s, one swift, one honda city, one palio and now figo. Once you owned a FIAT, you yearn for a quality car like that. Once you own a maruti diesel, you earn for a diesel engine like that. It was during that time I chanced upon the FIGO. Every car I test drove for atleast 10-20km in peak hour traffic to understand the ease of use. And then the FIGO was taken on the hosur highway on a sunday morning. Ripping at 120kmph. That more or less sealed my decision. Maruti was ready to deliver a dZIRE diesel at the same time. Having tasted a sedan ownership with city, i never wanted a sedan for those mundane city drives particularly due to maneuverability reasons. And the dZIRE was unnecessarily costly by 2 lacs. So decision was easy. Figo it was.

paid 6.5 lacs, about half at SBI teaser loan rates of 8%, 10% and 10% of which the first year is now over. I got a delivery by one month. First one week of adjusting was quite a pain. A few things contributed to that agony. Different seating compared to swift, 14" compared to 15" tyres, hydraulic compared to EP steering and the crazy ground clearance. After a week or two, I was done with the scares and started to get more comfortable with the figo. Even though i bought the figo, my heart was always missing the swift engine. primarily because of the bhp and torque. 75 and 190 to be precise. and this one was 69 and 160. Then started my horrible feelings with the car - too many gear shifts to first and second. the shift itself was super easy, but then i m aging and cannot while away my knee just like that. Sometimes i felt so bad with the torque that, i decided not to do anything for this car. stock stereo, stock tyres, stock seats. everything stock. until now.

I did one long journey with this fella earlier last year, to yercaud. Due to the length of the post, i am linking it from here: (its on tbhp) -
