How to mount a Bicycle on to SUV!

budget price, customized to fit.. removing the Spare tyre from my Rear also should be fine!

Roof mounted bike racks are illegal in some countries. Please do check our laws before buying one.

Tow-bar mounted bike racks are the best bet, but cops may claim that they block the indicators. Plus the mount may depend on the type of SUV. So search for one that fits your SUV.

DIY can be a challenging project. It would be very difficult to calculate the stress put on the rig in a crash or hard braking. Surely you don't what want to turn your bike in to a projectile.

If the intended use is to park your car somewhere and go exploring the place on your bicycle, then a folding bike is a cost effective alternative (Rs 9000 ish). You can trasport two of these INSIDE an SUV. Please be sure to tie them down properly with a cargo net or something similar.

If you remove the spare tire, then it should be easy to fabricate a bike carrier on the frame.

A rear mounted bike rack is a pain in traffic. I use mine only early in the morning and late at night when there is no chance of damage in bumper to bumper traffic. Get a roof rack from thule. It's complete peace of mind. I spent 9k on a rear rack and regret it. I should have doubled my budget and gotten a roof rack.
That would have given me a lot more flexibility of use. A rear rack will be beautiful in country where the traffic is disciplined. Here, you'll worry yourself sick thinking about getting rear ended and damaging your bike, bike rack and car, all in one go.

Thank you all for LOADS of opinions! so I have some options however
1. Get a Ready fabricated stuff shelling out some money

on My SUV rear (which should not be a permanent as City traffic whoes)
2. Get a Custmoized one as Nithin suggested

(But it should be horizontal mounting on TOP so height can be reduced)

Jay_tech- you have a safari right? Why dont you just put the bike inside the truck? I fit 2 bikes inside my figo. Do you really need a rear rack?

Also, doesn't the safari come with roof rails? You could strap the bike on them. Becomes easy if you get cross rails fixed between the 2 existing roof rails.
