I was planning to get my Civic Re-mapped apart from getting a CAI....n removing the cat-con coupled with a magnaflow/remus exhaust....i mean the end can.
I am very new to performance upgrades so need to be sure before going for any or all of the above.
My main perpose is to improve civics weak low end torque n improve its driveability n m not really looking at increasing the top end performance.
So for starters...what should i get...start with the de-cat n exhaust n then a CAI n finally a remap...or any other suggestion???
Does a remap in a car like civic can really make any difference being a NA petrol engine..??? For remap..i only know of 2 options....either Tune-o-Tronics or Kiirus....but have no real solid feedback on either on petrol remaps.
But T-o-t has clearly told me that its not possible to get a lot of gain from only a remap...maybe a gain of 6-7 bhp couled with 10-12nm of torque at max. But remap coupled with CAI n de-cat would result into a significant gain in the low end. i have got a quote of 15k...n i havent asked kiirus yet...but AFAIK...they charge around 25k for honda engines.
Regarding the other mods...I had always planned to get a CAI....either K&n Or BMC....cause i remember reading GTO's review on T-bhp on k&n typhoon in his civic which had actually resulted in gains...dyno tested...n ofcourse the added intake sound. Had K&N typhoon set in my mind...but i got to know that the price has almost doubled in 2 yrs...n now costs around 32k...is this true ???
Have been suggested BMC...cause its filter is fully enclosed n covered...n needs less frequent cleaning compared to the K&N kit n Gurgaon being extremely dusty...BMC makes more sense.
Its not plug n play like typhoon but...the piping n evrything can be made for civic for the MAF sensor etc....dont know much here.
Why de-cat...as ive been told that Civic's cat-con is very restrictive n by removing it...u'll get better performance at low end. How true is this ???
When it comes to remaps....i havent got any solid reviews. So need some inputs from u guys on this.
Civic owners who have got remaps or have removed cats or any other performance upgrade done....would request u to pls share ur feedback or any suggestions.

I will never trust a VAG vehicle with anyone but the best international Tuning company with the cleanest record that I can find!

In pursuit of happiness, and happiness drives very fast.
Hi,
Thought I might add to this topic here. Got my Vento Tdi remapped by T.O.T in the 2nd week of February and must say I was extremely happy with the results. Had tried out a map by Kiirus prior to that which I was not too impressed by hence went ahead with Siddharth.
Informed Siddharth of my driving style with a clear instruction to keep within safe limits of the turbo and car both. Accordingly he went about his job and the final results left me with a wide grin on my face. Took 2nd place at the recently conducted drags at Amby Valley in the diesel category and lost out by a whisker to a remapped Getz crdi. No regrets there as I was shifting at redline instead of within the powerband. Attaching before and after dyno sheets for ref. Car was bone stock during the dyno session with only upgrade being 205/50/15 tyres.
Driven approx 5000kms since the remap which included sending the car for a service as well as some suspension related repairs to the service centre. They were unable to detect the map.
