      Alpine PXA-H800 Unboxing

The Alpine PXA-H800 was officially launched in the country about a week back. There were some 'test' subjects released in the market last year but nothing more than that. Not sure if the version released now is with the upgraded software but most likely it is. The H800 has some cool features takes from the F#1 Status.More information can be found here : Alpine Electronics of AustraliaThe MRP has been increased to INR 44990. The RUX C800 controller has not been launched as per latest info and might hit the market in later stages.A close friend got his hands on one fresh off the press so to say and sent me some pictures on my request. Will be going in his car this weekend with a W502 2-din HU .. the optical connection will be added in later stages ... promises to be one helluva a SQL + 5.1 SetupUploading the unboxing of the Alpine PXA-H800.

We've been using these for a year now. Unfortunately Supreme, the technical geniuses that they are, have no clue about how this works so they have never actually imported the RUX controller. The processor will not even turn on if not connected to either the RUX or a compatible Alpine HU. We have had to procure the RUX and optical cables on our own. This lack of support is sad, because this is a nice product.

They are used for High Level input, you connect the high level speaker cable to these and select high level input in the software. The Mosconi ONE amplifiers and the 6to8 processor also use RCA for high level inputs. Frankly, we prefer these to the euro style connectors normally used.

thank you for the info sir .. but then why the odd number of connectors ??? usually it's either a 2ch or a 4ch high level input on the DSP's and Amplifiers ...

yup .. alpine and some other manufacturers do tend to confine the user to their own ecosystem of products ... all DSP's sooner or later do need a dedicated controller to function properly ( volume, fader, balance, source, power etc ) but the best thing i liked about the RUX is that it can at least tune the entire system without the need of a laptop ..

quite weird that such an important part of the system was not imported

is the remote turn on connection for the amplifier(s) in the supplied wiring harness ??? can't see a standalone one in the pics ..

what would the tentative price if the RUX and the Optical Cable had to procured separately ?

The brushed metal finish does look very cool indeed.

When I spoke to Jb a couple of months back, he had a very high opinion about the Alpine DSP.

What does the DSP cost in India with the RUX controller here?

And do they have an Android tool like most other DSPs today do?

the few times that i heard the older H701 was really impressive as well ... Alpine has been making DSP's for so many years now ... if i ever go the DSP route again, it would be with the H800 for sure ..

The MRP is INR 44990. I believe you can get it for anywhere between 42k to 43.5k depending on the location ..

RUX has not been launched in India as yet ... there were only a couple of demo units that were imported and were showcased at the Auto Expo and probably given to dealers etc for their demo cars ..

nope .. tuning via RUX and Laptop only and basic controls if using a Alpine HU ..

Hey guys. The H800 was installed last weekend and the owner and the installers and the tuners and everyone who has heard it is might impressed.

Should be getting a good audition today of the setup and will try to post some pics of the same.

Optical cable has been ordered and should be installed before the end of the month.

Can't wait to hear one of the best DSP's in the industry at the moment.

Why "odd number"? There are 3 pairs right? It can be used as 3 stereo aux inputs, or 1 x 4 channel input and 1 x stereo input, or 5.1 input.

      KWE-610A Optical Cable

The Optical Cable was installed with the Alpine IVA-W502e and the H800

The improvement in quality as per my friend is immense and is much better than the Ai-Net cable which when I auditioned was sounding damn good itself.

The setup needs a re-tune to adjust the XO, Gain etc for the optical source. With the current settings, it is much louder when optical is selected as the primary source.

Aux, iPod, FM, USB all work through the Ai-Net and the CD and DVD are routed through the optical cable. 5.1 will also be setup once the setup goes for a retune by the end of the month.

It is now well established that a DSP works best when the input signal is given as a digital signal via optical or co-axial cable. This bypasses the HU DAC and only the DSP's DAC is in the picture.

Bumping up an old thread guys!

Does it make sense to get a DSP like the Alpine PXA H800 and use it with the RCD 330 stock head unit in new VW cars? The stock system is very well integrated and overall gives a very nice look so I really don't feel like changing the head unit. I have changed the speakers and added a subwoofer.

      Current setup:
      Stock HU
      Focal Integration ISS 165 components
      Focal Integration IC 165 coaxials
      Blaupunkt GTB 8200A active sub

Are you planning to upgrade this aswell....If not the alpine would be a luxury. I suggest you get a cheaper DSP like the audison bit ten.

The new MiniDSP 2x4 would be my recommendation and is a real value for money and more than enough for your setup. It can be easily configured in car.
      http://diyaudiocart.com/miniDSP-2-4-...search=minidsp

or if you want a car specific option with full controls get the CDSP which is also made by miniDSP. You can contact GH member piyush7243 who also deals with miniDSP products.
