When launched in 2007, 320d came with 156bhp engine. After 2007 , BMW increased the 1995 cc engine output many times. Now the engine in 320d develops184 bhp. X1 320d develops 177bhp. D3 engine develops 40.7kgm torque at 1500-2750rpm, 2.7 Kgm more than 320d. D3 is not underpowered.

Hhhhmmm, did some more digging around. Seems like the only logical upgrade for Tadu would be a A4 3L TDI Quattro. Have booked a TD of the A4 as well.

38L Ex-Showroom. Comes with a 3L V6 with 236bhp. The 2L TDI is 30L and comes with a 140bhp engine. No wonder they putter around the highways.
BWM 320D Highline is 32.3L. And comes with a 181bhp engine (though not according to the BWM website).
Assuming prices of all these cars will be going up thanks to the increase in excise duty, it's sad to see that we don't have a decent 250bhp RWD/AWD car in India for around 30L.

Auto box not good enough! Won't handle as well as the A4/3-Series.
Makes more sense to buy a Cruze + remap + suspension

BMW uses metric horse power instead of mechanical horse power
1 mechanical hp= 0.7457 kW and 1 metric hp = 0.7355
135/ 0.735 is very near to 184hp and 130/0.7355 is near to 177 hp
