Help - RTO Agent, Bangalore (Indiranagar)

Friends, I want to re-register my TN registered Ford Figo to Bangalore. I guess Indiranagar RTO is near to my place as I stay in New thippasandra. Please let me know some good RTO agent who does this work. I am new to this place and your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Pls go to the RTO office in BDA complex off Old Madras road. You will find a lot of brokers there. I normally used to use Philips Driving School, but they have gotten greedy now a days. Their work is good though.

Why do you want to re-register your car? I have used a AP regd bike and a KL regd car for over 15 years without any issues. (YOu just need to know the rules )

Thanks KB100 for your quick reply.

I heard other state vehicles are stopped every now and then. I am just worried about it. I dont like explaining (read as begging) these guys. I heard rule states you can use your car for a year after that you should pay road tax. I am planning to stay here for at least 5 years so decided to re-register it.

    OT

Actually I was in a dilemma whether to sell my car in TN and buy a new one here or to re-register it. My car is just 11 months old and ODO is less than 7K. I bought my Figo diesel for 6L and now if I sell it I may get around 5L. If I buy a new car I need to spend 6.75L (same model) so I need to shed out 1.75L so felt instead spend 0.75L on re-registration. I am happy with the car. Its pretty new and I dont feel fatigue at all so I settled with this decision.

Could you please let me know your opinion?

How will the police know that you have been plying on B'lore roads for > 1Yr?

Retain the car, doesn't make sense in you selling it for the heck of driving around in B'lore.

I would suggest instead of going to a broker please goto RTO directly & enquire about re-registration. Or go through the below link & read:

Karthik, It all depends how good are you in handling the cops. For example he can catch me after two months and tell me you are driving your car for more than a year since he has seen my car couple of times in my area. I heard they store this car number in their blackberry phones to track it (read somewhere, not sure though). I need to prove him in some way . Toll receipts have become old trick. The problem is once they see TN number they will stop you.

Moreover I am worried about this Cauvery problem. TN vehicles are the first target. Dont want to take a risk.

    BTW thanks for the link.

I have never seen any such cases (Cops stopping outside registered vehicles) atleast in Tumkur road which i use frequently. Keep the documents with you & drive within city speed limits, i don't see a reason why cops will flag you down just because you have a TN registered vehicle!!!!!! Just doesn't make sense. Even kb100 , has pointed out that he has not had any issues, even mclaren1885 , has an outside registered vehicle IIRC (Just read on some other thread) & even he has had no issues. Just know the rules & play the game, after all even cops are humans & not 'Jallads'.

Please call their helpline number & enquire. If you don't speak Kannada, then ask a friend who does & enquire (I am not sure if they speak English or not).

Do you really need to re-register your car in Bangalore. You can simply pay Road tax, and use your car in Bangalore. To pay road tax, you need no agents and it is simple to do it yourself (about 30-40 minutes in all at Indiranagar RTO). I have been peacefully driving my non-KA car in Bangalore since last 6 years without any hassles from police. I have been stopped only once for no reasons (they checked all papers including tax receipt). At other times (2-3 traffic violations), they never bothered to check any papers, only collected the fine. So it is no problem.

Just pay road tax voluntarily, and drive with peace of mind.

@bhi - Thanks for opening up this thread.. I'm facing the exact same problem and I read from Karnataka RTO site that we need to have the change of address endorsed in RC to pay the road tax here in Karnataka.
