      Getz Mods

      Finally working on my first car i.e. Getz 2005 1.3L Petrol Engine !!

      This car went into driver's hand after i got Volvo and it was badly abused

      But i really do have a soft corner for this car and one fine day decided to mod this car and keep it as fun ride .

      So one fine day sat day sat down with dad and decided on the expenditure ( funny incident though ... Local Gearhead friends are aware of this ) and got the approval to repair and mod this car .

      Total Expenditure will be around 1.5L ( ICE IS SEPARATE )


      The final plan for repair and mods is as under :

      Repairs

      1. Suspension work ( Change of bushes and small tiny bits )
      2. New Clutch and presssure plates .
      3. Rear Bumper Fix

      Performance and Mods :

      1. Eibach Lowering Springs
      2. DBA (Australia )Slotted and Drilled Rotors
      3. EBC Green Brake Pads
      4. Automech Headers + HKS Stainless Steel Muffler
      5. NGK / OWS Iridium Plugs
      6. K&N Pod Filter
      7. Yokohama S drives 205/50 R15 tyres
      8. NEW ALLOYS TO BE DECIDED BUT WILL BE FROM LENSO RANGE
      9. Art leather seat covers
      10. MOMO Steering wheel with hub .
      11. MOMO Gear Knob
      12. Smoked front and rear tail lights
      13. Tints
      14. Buffin and polishing of car by 3M chemicals
      15. 100/90 halogen with Bosch / Philips Relay .
      16. MOBIL 1 Fully synthetic oil .



      The car should be done by 20th July .

      You don't really need synthetic oil. Just run Castrol Magnatec GTX and change every 5000 kms. Your engine will be more happy

      Sorry if I sounded rude, but most of the above mods don't really fetch you much for the amount you are spending on them.

      Chiragh Bir : I agree with every point of mclaren1885, except the Mobil1 fully synth oil.

      As a previous Getz 1.3 owner having used many oils, I can tell from experience that this engine is most happy with Mobil. It runs super smooth, almost silent and is very rev happy.

      But then again, that's a very minor expenditure considering the other not-so-great mods that you're going in for.

      With these mods, your car will make a lot of noise and it will probably look good, but the performance gains (if any) will be minimal. I'd suggest that you spend some money on basic repairs and divert the rest to ICE!
      I don't know what's gonna happen man but I wanna have my kicks before the whole shithouse goes up in flames

      My stock exhaust has be junked away due to rust and company dealers don't have stock !!

      This is my main reason to get Automech !!!


      Eibach will drop the ride's height by 1.5inch - friend is running these on his getz and is very happy with it ...

      My rotors and brake pads l life is over and needs replacement so why not spend a little extra and get better braking !!

      Pod filters if installed properly there will be a decent gain and i also like the Intake growl so going with them .


      Am not gonna use any other oil on my car except synthetic , these really protect your engine , i would suggest you to try out in your car

      Up North I guess your choices for headers are limited. Automech is not really known to make good headers. You may want to contact Arush and see if he can get someone good to make you a set of headers.

      Cross Drilled and slotted rotors will actually reduce the braking efficiency as the surface area the pads get is lesser. However the advantage is that they will not warp easily due to constant heating under hard braking. All this only under extreme high speed driving. If you are not the kind who drive at really high speeds, then it's quite pointless to spend that kind of money unless you are looking for "bling"

      Trust me, you will end up doing more harm than good by letting the filter suck in hot air. Only way to know if it actually is good for the engine is to check the IATs to make sure. In most cases, I've seen aftermarket conical/pod filters actually ruin low end torque.

      Been there, done that! Trust me, unless you are again the kind who really drives at full throttle for extended periods, or lives in extremely hot/cold climatic conditions, synthetic oil won't do any magic to your engine. The sooner you change engine oil, the fresher it is, the better for your engine. Which is why I suggest a good semi-synthetic oil like Magnatec and change it at every 5000kms.

      IMO that is a lot of money being spent on mods with little/no gain at all. Quite sure you could use the funds elsewhere. Anyways, your money, your car, your choice

      i think it depends on wether he's experiencing brake fade under heavy braking, i have no idea about the braking performance of the getz, oe discs with upgraded pads or slotted discs would still be more VFM if thats the case

      that they do, i have no idea about how restrictive the intake passage in on the getz, maybe if you(chiragbir) put up a few pics, a few things can be said about the placement of the filter even if you want to put a pod filter(for that growl you are referring to), so you can get something both functional and aesthetically appealing to you

      in most cases, a filter like will push your power delivery further up the rev range

      i hope you don't any of it as criticism, other than constructive, if you're spending money for a purpose in this case for an increase in performance, its better to do those mods which will actually give you better performance

      i contacted arush and phil ...

      arush offered me RRP exhausts ... but i saw my friend's brand new cedia ruined by RRP bangalore ...though arush is a great guy and helped me with lot many things ... even if RRP is best i will not touch their stuff

      only problem with phil was he wanted my car for like 7 days at delhi and for me dropping the car was not looking out to be practical .


      automech on the other hand seems to work well , asked many guys and they had no problem using them ... just in case i have any problem i am prepared to get new custom made Headers from Australia ... but i want to give Automech a shot ..



      @mclaren ... i do around 180 kmph daily on Volvo ... so u can imagine how slow i drive .. as i said my rotors have given up so these are just being replaced with better ones and there is no harm having better brakes .. you never know when you need them . and offcourse they looks cool



      And guys as i said .. am not looking for power gains here ... just trying to give the car a new life with slightly better parts ...

      i would have gone the Turbo way , if i wanted jaw dropping power .... but here its not the case ..



      tomorrow i wil get my car back from workshop after repairs ... i will post pics of engine bay !!
