      Spring Buffer Cushion Insert

I came across this Suspension add-on product called Spring Buffer Cushion for coil spring suspension. It is inserted between the coil spring suspension. Of the reviews I read in the net users have reported better comfort & less body roll.

There are 2 types available RED colour (rubber compound) & Transparent (urethane compound)

Urethane has better reliability than rubber.

Seems to be a very popular product with Honda Civic owners since it cured the bottoming out issues for those low slung cars.

IIRC, A1 Wheel Alignment Center stocks these products.

I feel this won't work that nicely. The cushioning effect might go since the full compression of the springs are arrested by this block/insert IMO.

There is a difference between normal spring cushion inserts & the one I am thinking of.

Usually spring inserts do not have holes. Refer Spring Assisters By Grayston Engineering Ltd made in UK

These rubber spacers are purely made to not allow the coil spring compress further especially while carrying heavy loads in the rear

The below transparent urethane design has on the sides egg shaped holes to allow the cushion to flex with the coil springs adding to comfort & stability. The material - urethane is also uniquely designed to be durable & absorb shocks.

Your suspension will become stiff IMO. I mean when you go on a pothole, the shocks will not be in a position to compress fully as this insert will block the motion. Hence you will fell a THUD or a abrupt stop. One advantage is that you will not be scarping the humps(for low slung cars). All these are just IMO.

Check this review of a Hyundai Elantra user Urethane Coil Spring Wheel Cushions - ElantraClub - Community of Hyundai Owners and Enthusiasts

It does increase the ride height & the greatest difference in feel is over small bumps & uneven roads - much more comfortable than without. No difference over large humps.
