Diesel Head Prodigy - Glistening Grey Ritz VDi ABS

      Why Ritz?
I was somehow not comfortable driving the K10 in city. Also, we ended up taking the Fiesta every day inspite of having a small car at home. Thats when we decided to let go of the K10 and get a better car. (No offense meant to any Alto K10 owners here). This time, my home ministers came up with the idea of getting a diesel car. Thanks to the ever increasing fuel prices we decided to get a diesel hatch.

The following cars were considered before finalising Ritz deal.

Swift Vdi - Mom and Wifey didnt like the rear seat
Liva GD - Cheap Interiors and centre mounted console
Micra - Not sure about ASS
Pulse - Again, reliability and ASS
Figo - We have a Fiesta and Figo's interiors resembles Fiesta except for
black interiors and red color speedo lighting.

      Booking/Buying Experience:

We sold our K10 thru True Value and booked Ritz Glistening Grey at Indus Motors Katupakkam Chennai. This is our second car
from this dealership and my dad has good rapport with them. The loan formalities took 2 days time and the funds were transferred on the third day. I didnt opt for PDI as I had to travel 22 kms from office to reach their yard.

So, we took delivery of Prodigy on June 15. Babbanji Franklin, I guess u took delivery of Red Devil on the same date right?
Rating - 4/5 coz the door trims was not clean during the time of delivery.

This being our first diesel car, my opinion and views might differ from others. So, please excuse me

Engine - Well proven DDiS. Fuss free and no complaints at all
Gear and Transmission - Butter smooth, when compared against my K10
Suspension - well tuned, but tends to get bouncy. Not stiff as Swift
Build Quality - Great considering Maruti's standards
Paint finish - Okay - Not great as Hyundai or VW
Tyres - Pathetic 165/80 R14. But, thanks to the ABS
      ICE - None
Cabin Noise - Yes, diesel clatter is audible. Damping is required, which means ICE log will come soon

      Mods done currently
      Alloys/Tyres - Lenso Project D series - Michelin Primacy LC 195/60 R15
      ICE - Seperate thread
Lights - Hella 100/90 with Relay

Sorry guys, didnt take pictures during delivery. Got just one from our recent trip to Guruvayur.

Congrats Prodigy ! The alloys go well with the color of the car. I just love the design of the Ritz. In fact I liked it so much that I cancelled my booking of Swift zxi and changed it to Ritz P zxi a couple of years back ! The picture of your car with the slightly turned wheel is just awesome.

Wishing you endless happy miles with the car ! Drive safe

Few Updates on the freebies offered by the dealer - Missed to add them in my initial post

      a) MGA Seat covers - Art leather - Black
      b) MGA Remote Lock

Before taking delivery I had Indus to do the underbody treatment and full PVC floor mats.

Also, the first service was done at MSM last week. Total cost 4500 (includes replacement of Synthetic oil and anti-rust paint for silencer).

      Congratulations on the Ritz, Prodigy

Your Ritz looks good in the Grey shade and those alloys. Believe me, I had this same combination (grey colour and the same alloy design) in mind when I decided to book a Ritz! The dealer messed up the booking, and those alloys were not available, so I have a Silver Ritz and Neowheels alloys now

How effective is this ? I'm contemplating on whether or not to get it done for my Ritz P.

Very useful. Coz cleaning become extremely easy as the dust does not get stuck to the carpet. Also, the stock carpet remains new

      Prodigy

Congrats on the Ritz and it is an extremely good car. Excellent choice of alloys and surprising that you got some freebee from Maruti on a diesel car. I was close to buying it in March this year (in transit vehicle invoiced to me) but cancelled the booking once I came to know that the Govt was not levying 80k excise duty on diesel cars on my Swift ZDI, which was expected in May.

On the diesel clatter, it will die down once the DDIS crunches more miles. You can also try switching to BP diesel in Chennai. After experimenting with HP, IOC and BP diesels from their best bunks on my earlier Manza nad current Swift, I find the FIAT engines much quiter/smoother with BP diesel. I infer that BP diesel comes from their Cochin Refinery whereas IOC is from CPCL and HP from Mangalore refinery.
