Nissan in talks with Ashok Leyland for global small car

Looks like Hindustan Motors are doing excellent in every aspects.

Japanese carmaker Nissan today said it is in talks with Hinduja flagship company Ashok Leyland for developing a small car for the global market that could be priced around $4500-5000.

2 - 2.25 lacs sounds good. But why tie up with a truck manufacturer like Leyland? Beats me.

Same answer I am also looking for. When Renault can joined hands with Mahindra why not Nissan with Leyland(this is my thinking). But nissan wants someone to join their hands so that they can come to India. but others I think charge more % of profits as they are doing good.

But in case of Mahindra-Renault, M&M were already producing consumer vehicles in the form of Scorpio and Bolero, when the Logan deal came around but Leyland has always been known as top truck/bus chassis makers. Maybe it wont be long before we hear of something like Mazda tying up with Massey Fergusson
