IceAge - What is your budget? Santro has a reliable engine but it is a decade old model. Beat is good but you will be paying close to 5.5L for the top end model. Beat dont give good FE within city. I know many owners who have reported 10-11kmpl. Why dont you look at other cars such as a-star, wagonR, Zen estilo, swift, micra & polo?

as micra and polo would be more on high end maintenance so not opting this!!
Swift i don't like it, it's too common and it's maruti.
so thinking on Santro or Beat only!!

my budget is only 5.17 OTR for Beat, spoke to Dealers and Santro 4.42L OTR

One year back, two of my neighbors were in same dilemma as you. Both of them bought Santro GLS. Just telling.

That boost my confidence more!! Actually I am into what kind of extra expence to be done, is it worth?? when i am thinking on moderate budget??

So i concluded that it's better to go with Santro! as this would be my second car self owned. previously enjoyed maruit Zen, but now as i feel Hyundai is little superior to maruti, opting Hyundai Santro Xing GLS, final. Thanks guys

This decision is solely on maintenance and SVC cost for the car, Chevrolet SVC is 21kms away from my home, where as Hyundai and maruti are very close to my home, mere 3-5km. SO opting Hyundai!! Thanks Guys for all your help!!

      Superb choice

      1. Costlier cars like Beat is definitely not worth the extra money given how good Santro is.
      2. Its so called outdated engine is still used today in modern cars like Hyundai Eon. I still find Santro easier & comfier to drive than all cars today.
      3. The build of Santro is quite good compared to most cars today and hence it ages really well compared to most cars today.
      4. I heard that Santro has higher maintenance than Marutis but I don't think that it can be substantially higher. And even if it is so, Santro is still worth extra maintenance.
      5. Plus, generally more cost goes into repairing/parts-replacement than actual maintenance and in this department, Santro is cheap.
      6. Santro also has great advantage of having great compatibility with LPG and CNG without any significant loss in driveability. Could come in use in case petrol price go out of control.

Along with my neighbors last year, I also had to buy a car for myself. Had I not gone for Ford Figo LXi for 3.9 lac, I would have bought Santro GLS.

Great choice. Having owned a Santro for 6.5 years, I can tell you that virtually nothing goes wrong with this car unless you abuse it.

My only worry is that it may be discontinued shortly, so will lose it's resale value. Other than that - a fine car to own & maintain. Wish you many happy miles on this.
