      ICEing Ertiga, A Complete DIY Project

      Hi Guys,

      First a Disclaimer: I am not a professional, just a DIY enthusiast, apoligies if any of the below information is wrong. And beware this would be the slowest thread in GH in terms of updates.

      Finally got some (I mean really some time!!), to start building a sub for my Ertiga. This time I going with the Dreamz!!. Owe this to Dinesh Sachdev since I have been pestering him a lot to get one of his Subs, but after that due to work pressure (which is still there and killing me day by day) and being a full time father could not invest some time to finish this. Now to the Hero!!:

      Dream Audio 6.5" , thanks to Dinesh. Even though his company is at its early stages, I have great hopes that one day his products would be known for the ones with good Quality but at affordable price. Just one suggestion from my end, try to make it more bling..bling in terms of colour, terminals and other stuff, it would sell like hot cakes!!. Now for some serious stuff

      Published Specs:
      6.5inch high excursion subwoofer
      *100w RMS 200w MAX
      * VC : 1-1/4inch
      * Frequency response: 30-800 Hz
      * Fs: 30 Hz
      * SPL: 78 dB 1W/1m
      * Vas: 0.16 cu. ft.
      * Qms: 3.09
      * Qes: 0.41
      * Qts: 0.36
      * Xmax 6 mm

      Measured Specs (In WT2):
      Fs = 55.4830 Hz
      Qes = 0.7912
      Qms = 6.8124
      Qts = 0.7089
      Vas = 4.9296 L ( 0.1741 ft^3)
      Sensitivity= 82.0175 dB @1W/1m
      Sensitivity= 85.7073 dB @2.83Vrms/1m

      Hope that the Fs/Qts (Qms to be precise) to come down as the sub breaks-in.

      The enclosure.

      Guess what its my first attempt on tapped Horn!! The driver would be placed towards the start of the horn mouth with its a** facing the mouth of the horn .

      Theoretically the response would look like this:

      Usable frequency would be from 38Hz to 145hz. There is a huge bump @ Frequency 129.36, hoping to flatten it out using a notch filter (passive/active). I will be using .5" mdf for the build. Hoping to find sometime today to start the cuts. Will post more photos then . Taking a break for now!!

      Build Continued...

      After spending almost 6+ hours I was finally able to assemble the enclosure. Screwed up with the inner radius of the speaker cutout cost me lot of time. Finally came up with a Quick fix . Now let the pics do the talking..

      P.s : why the readings from WT2 off by so much day and night ??

      Last few weeks on my current project (work) and its hectic. Hope to be back in full strength in the next couple of weeks. Yes I did measure the TS multiple times but it is average out to be around this value. Even tried with WT3 (which is said to be less accurate than WT2) but still results are around what WT2 measured.

      Hey Guys,

      I know i have not being updating this thread for a while. Work is hectic not able to relax a bit. While I burn my time in office I would like your advise on speakers. I am basically looking for a neutral sounding driver (components in front and coaxials in rear door). Dont have a big budget as of now, max I can spend is around 15k. My to be system (hopefully it happens) is to build a CarPC with some kind of sound server (say pulseaudio) which can accept streaming audio from android devices. Something this guy is doing PulseAudio on Android: Part 2, myself not a programming geek like him but closely watching this guy to come out with some products

      That is for now, time for office
