      What car should I buy...

Hello friends ..today This thought is just stuck in my mind..

Current car is Verna SX CRDI 3 years old 60K on ODO

I'm planning to change it in another 3 - 6 Months. Not many travels planned, I don't think it would clock more than 3000 kms in next 6 months. Now my daily travel is just 5 km's one way and most of the days I take Activa to office.

If I have to change the car, what car I do buy...Also if you have good offer for the car,PM me. (details can be provided on the PM).

I want a DIESEL with similar power that of Verna in the same price tag ( 11 lakhs on road +/- 1 lakh).

The cars in mind not in any specific order.

      1. Vento
      2. Skoda RAPID
      3. DUSTER
      4. Buy a ford fiesta classic and remap.

Please feel free to add in the list. I would be happy wtih even a powerful hatchback. but not sure if it's available.

Can you please tell us your exact requirements other than powerful and diesel.
Eg usage pattern of the car, how often will the rear seats be occupied, and similar stuff.
the vento and rapid are excellent cars. I do not own either a skoda or a vw but have heard both poYyyyyysitives and negatives about the ASS of both. Please do research fully and talk to owners of both cars to get a better idea.
The duster is a good car too. Good visibility. Excellent powwer. Reliable engine

Reg the fiesta classic it may look under powered on paper but I can assure you it is a very competent mile cruncher.

Why dont you have a look at the new fiesta?

Imo for a monthly running of 500kms a petrol hatch would be perfect. You can invest the remaining amount or spend on mods

I travel a lot. by saying the quoted portion I meant that next three months I wouldn't be clocking high mileage say 3000 kms.

      - is above average figures with general public.

Regarding the skoda even I heard stories, some 10 minutes back read in the forum itself..but I know few friends who own a skoda (used for 3 years) and VW(2.4 years) and there has been no issue so far.

If you have driven a Verna diesel you would know what kind of a car I'm expecting.. There are rarely more than 2 +1 in the car. I never sat on the back seat of my car.
travels are frequent..once in two months..ranging 500 - 800 kms... budget can be extended a bit by delaying the ICE for the future car.

If the back seat is not going to be used much then please do take a test drive of the new fiesta. It aint a torque monster but it is a very capable car.
Practice does not make something perfect.
      Practice makes it permanent.

After driving a verna you would find it very difficult to even say your OK with the power of the fiesta. I dont think even a remap would suffice. Its alright in the city, but on highways it begs for power. Doesn't give you the kicks as in the verna.
Look at the Verna 1.6, not sure which model would fit your budget though but I am sure it will clearly satisfy your power requirements and am hoping it would handle better than the old - verna.

If your having duster in mind, then i would suggest the Storme instead.

The new fiesta is also an option, but personally i find it overpriced and fugly.

+1 to that... safari some how I don't think I can drive..but I think it's a mind block...I would take a test drive this weekend, but Strome is not yet available in Bangalore I guess.

though The ownership reviews are promising for xuv 5oo, I think there is room for refinement.

any idea when is ecosport is going to be released?

vineeth the way to tag the mods is use # before the name, without any space in between and use @ before name of the member, again without space in between...tagging Mustang.101

#mods please move the thread as per request of OP
