      Question wagon r ice medium value for money setup wih sub amp and dvd

      hi all

      i have been searching this forum for wagon r ice to guide me on ice ing my wagon r vxi.

      my requirements are

      1) Sub & an amp = compulsory since i like deep punchy bass

      2) i need equally good sound in front as well as in rear seat

      3) i would ideally want a dvd hu + a 7 inch screen fitted on the roof

      4) i would like components in front but i do not want it on the door. so a "4" component would do, powered by a 4 channel amp

      5) the rear speaker would be 6*9 oval or 6 mounted on 18 inches thick bass reflex parcel tray or moulded behind the seat

      6) my total budget for this would be upto 25k.. i am ok with grey since it is a reliable installer

      7) i checked out some GP road shops, who quoted 2.5 k for jbl cs1215 sub woofer, 5.5 k for jbl 644 amp and 1k for 4 inch coaxial and 2.5 k for 6*9 rear jbl, hu was 9k for pio dvd hu 3190 or 10k for jvc 9405 with blue tooth

      I would request your help in getting in touch with mark. since he seem to be the best ice installer in chennai as well as value for money

      Hi eq, 4 inch components wont do for hardcore sound,you will have to go with 6.5 inch.

      Please do not put ovals in the rear ,front good comps rear single sub does wonders,remember the bass should only be by the sub not speakers..

      You have gotta be kidding me. 25k will get you the front comps (6k) a 4 channel amp (6.5k) , a mid range kenwood HU ( 7k) and a sub + box + wiring (6.5k) .

      you will either have to choose between features and quality. If you want quality. I've already listed what you need to do. else you will need to compromise on some of your constraints

      For the budget you mentioned, I think you can get a entry level Pioneer HU with 3 preouts. Not sure which of the Kenwoods is good, Auster should be able to assist you with that one.

      Stock WagonR speakers are 4''? If you want good soundstage, you will need atleast 5 3/4th inch component speakers. Ideally 6.5" would be perfect. That would mean getting a custom enclosure made on the door pads? Components would be ideally the better bet for the fronts.

      You can use co-axials for the rear fills. Since you mentioned you needed a sub (preferably with a sealed enclosure?), get a 4-channel amp, run the sub off two channels bridged and use the other two channels for the components. Run the rear co-axials from the HU.

      You can always upgrade your ICE in stages. So I suggest you pick up a good amp and components first. The rest can be chosen once your budget for the amp and compos is fixed.

      Suggest you drop the idea of the DVD thing and spend it on better HU and speakers. I got a DVD player and trust me, you very rarely watch videos on it. But if you're a person who goes on long drives with family, then its different.

      So basically want

      HU : DVD and a 7 inch screen
      Compos : 4 inch
      Rear : 6*9 ovals/coaxials
      Sub & 4 channel amp
      Budget = 25K

      As green said it will be hard to get all these things in this fixed budget.
      IMHO you can consider
      Hu : pioneer/kenwood - 7K
      Front Comps : 6" JBL/Hertz/illusions etc - 6K
      Sub & enclosure : (JBL will be within ur budget) 6k
      Wiring : 2K
      Amp 4 channel: JBL/Kenwood (would be good within this limit) 7K

      I would say you drop the idea of rear speakers, if you are the one who is driving.

      So now what..... :roll: So whats ur next step ;-)

      Wow .Thanks for the Reply guys.

      @frankenstein
      I would love to put in 6.5 inch comps in the front.. I suppose the door would have to be cut & spacer rings used.
      I am worried about damaging the car, since we do not have good installer's in chennai..That is why i had suggested 4 inch comp in stock location and tweets near a pillar..
      I will go ahead with 6.5 inch comp if i manage to find a good installer in chennai. I might even drive to bangalore to evo or auto fusion or Venu's if i canot finde a good ice installer in chennai.
      Can you recommend specific models of JBL/Polk/Hertz 6.5 inch comp with approx price.

      I was looking at ovals in the rear because i would want vocals also to be heard by rear passengers and not just the bass from the sub.My swift has a 10 inch JBL sub and JBL 938 ovals and rear passengers complain that it is too loud for them , while it is ok in the front for me..

      can you suggest a work around for this where rear passengers can hear both vocals and bass equally balanced as it is for front passengers.

      @greenhorn
      I am ok with your listing..Can you give specific model numbers with pricing..
      I was anyway dithering on the DVD front since the roof mounted screen would obstruct the internal rear view mirror and safety is of paramount importance to me..
      I am inclined to Kenwood 6339 (i am not sure about the model number) which has TA, 3 high volt RCa Out & is bluetooth enabled.I have heard that Alpine is the best ..but i guess an alpine with these features would cost 15k or more.
      Is there a 4 channel amp that is sufficiently powerful enough to supply in a bridged mode to a 10 or 12 inch sub & front components and costs 6.5k..I enquired about JBL 644 which costs 5.5k, but people tell me that it is undrpowered to run a sub and comps.

      @karthik247

      I was thinking about the DVD thing since we drive down to bangalore atleast once a year & to nearby places (hill stations, temples) twice a year..so it gets very boring for non driver's
      In th wagon r, placement of the 2 din hu is very low and difficult to reach & rear passengers might not be able to view the 2 din screen.Hence i was considering the roof mount screen.
      I was anyway dithering on the DVD front since the roof mounted screen would obstruct the internal rear view mirror and safety is of paramount importance to me..

      Can a non DVD Hu play movies from USB stick/HDD from AUX In.. In that case i will get a regular HU & fit a screen as & when required.

      @ Mclaren1885

      thanks for the comprehensive reply..Can you recommend good amp + components for say 12k budget..

      @jithudigitised

      Hu : pioneer/kenwood - 10K ->Which model do you recomend, Kenwood 6339 (i am not sure about the model number) which has TA, 3 high volt RCa Out & is bluetooth enabled.I have heard that Alpine is the best .but i guess an alpine with these features would cost 15k or more.
      Front Comps : 6" JBL/Hertz/illusions etc - 6K = OK
      Sub & enclosure : (JBL will be within ur budget) 6k = OK
      Wiring : 2K = OK (Sosche/Monsterinterlink JR/Audission)
      Amp 4 channel: JBL/Kenwood (would be good within this limit) 7K = I only know of JBL644 around 5.5k & a 2 chn jbl amp around 3.5 K.Should i brige both channels of 2ch for front comp & all the channel of 4 chnanel for sub..

      I would say you drop the idea of rear speakers, if you are the one who is driving = Sometimes, i am in the rear seat with the kid, if my wife is driving.Hence would want good sound stage with vocals in the back also.
