      Indigo/Manza - Alloy & Tyre Upgrade Options

      Hi Guys,

The Tata Manza comes with factory fitted Bridgestone 185/60 R15 tyres. What size upgrade and from which company would be ideal for the Manza? I read somewhere that ideally a 15% increase in the factory fitted tryres is recommended. It would also help if youcould tell me what would be the advantages/ disadvantages of upsizing the tyres. AFAIKthe pros would be better handling better ride maybe depending on the tyres whereas the cons would include increase in fuel consumption, lesser GC depending on the tyres.

OT- Im unaware of how can one make out if its a standard wheel cover or an Alloy just bylooking at the tyre. Its a silly question but please do tell. For e.g. Manza top of the line doesent come with alloys , but I cant seem to understand if itsan alloy or not.

      Thanks.

Ideal upsize would be 195/55/15 but as the side wall will become too low, I would suggest
      195/60/15.
Regarding brands, Michelin & Bridgestone are good choices.

The size I suggested would have the least effect on the car's ride/handling. Handling might improve due to increase in contact patch. Affect on FE would also be minimal.

Manza's wheel covers are designed in a way tha they mimic alloys, so the confusion!
One can simply know whether its an Alloy or not by looking closely or touching. Wheel covers just cover the original rim. While Alloys are a complete replacement for the rim.

Didnt understand what do you mean by a 15% increase. You can go for any tire as you want ,but to keep the same OE speedometer readings and the gearings,it is recommended that you go for a change which has a +- 3% difference in the Overall Diameter as compared to the OE tires.Anything greater than 3% will definitely alter your speedometer and odometer readings. This might also require modifications to the suspension and at the same time lead to a change in handling and braking, which can be dangerous at times.

Why dont you refer to this superb thread car-tyre-upgrade-guide-t383.html

Maybe ,the mods can merge this thread with that.

You are most welcome Nikhil, we all get confused at times!

Here's a link that shall help quelling most tyre related doubts:
      http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html
Has a calculator also by which one can calculate the appropriate upsize.

Do post back if there's more confusion!

I have a personal feeling that , manza's tyres and rims are small when compared to car size.. is there anyone have the same feeling? any issues with handling and stability?

One colleague of mine test drove Manza and Linea and bought Linea just because of the better handling and comfort. Another reason why Manza did not score, probably the much softer suspension.
