Hyundai Santro Tyre & Alloy Wheel Upgrade Guide

Nikhil, I have a 2004 Santro XG with stock tube tyres and rims. I am looking for a tyre upgrade which will help me to improve my grip but should not affect my mileage. I am not looking for a rim upgrade too.

What will be the best option for me, i mean size and brand?

Can a Santro take 14" rims. If so what is the correct tyre size?

      Hyundai Santro Tyre/Alloy Upgrade Guide

      Hello everybody,

My Santro Xing has worn it's tyres out and I want a change but my year-old i10 has almost new tyres(Apollo Accelere) run just 4500 kms so I was thinking of putting on my i10 tyres on the santro and getting 175/70 R13 Michelin or Yokohoma for my i10.

Will the i10 tyres work on the stock santro rims?

Does your i10 come with 155/80 R13?? If yes then its not recommended to put them on Santro.

For Santro the below ones are only advised.

      165/65-13
      175/60-13
      185/60-13

One more thing oyu need to consider is this: The i10 comes with 4j rims. They are too narrow to fit 175/70-13. If you want 175/70-13, then you need bigger rims. Buy Accent steel rims or get a set of alloys!

i've seen people using this tyre size with the stock i10 rims and some tyre shops recommending them too. is it dangerous?? have you got any complaints from any of your customers who have opted for this upgrade??

No complaints because we dont recommend it.

      Ideal rim-width calculator

Car Bibles : The Wheel and Tyre Bible Page 4 of 4

Enter 175/70-13 and see. It says minimum rim width is 5j. The i10's is too narrow.
