Ford quietly increases Ikon spare part prices

Ford has nearly doubled all the Ikon spare part prices.
Saw that a single shock costs 5k now (I had replaced the same 4 months ago in August for Rs.2461). The service (labor) charges have also been increased. It costs 1150 up from 875 six months ago for the 10k service. Got to know from the SA that all the rates are now almost double and Ikno service now costs more than that of the Fiesta.

Since the vehicle is not in sale, Ford would have raised the prices thinking customer would have no other option

But just heard a news that some manufacturers are going to decrease the price of spares since the import cost going to decrease and I think Ford's name was in that list.

I noticed a marginal increase in Fiesta's spare parts too. The stock air filter was 320 Odd last service(3 months back) , now its 364 or something.

Are the spare parts shared between the Ikon and Fiesta/Figo?

If not, then is the price increase so much that it's now costlier to maintain Ikon compared to Fiesta?

I can understand say a 10% increase or 20% increase but a 100% increase seems too much.

But, Fords call for lesser maintenance...

No, AFAIK the parts are not shared.
I don't know the Fiesta spare prices and quoted what the SA told me. But for the Ikon at least, the price has increased 100% for the shocks and 35% for the general service labor, in the last 6 months.

I'll post a scanned copy of my bill. Fiesta guys can post theirs for comparison.

The ikon air filter costs 620 now. The previous couple of times, I had used bosch filters, so don't know when the rate increase happened. I am better off switching to K&N.

I am nor sure but people used to say that a FORD car will be expensive to maintain after 3 years. Of course I don't have first hand experience but just going by sayings here and there.

So, am surprised as to why the prices have increased on the Ikon. If am not wrong the Fiesta was the replacement for the Ikon and Ikon is supposed to be one segment lower than the Fiesta. May be am wrong but other experts can correct me.

Since the production of Ikon has been stopped, ford would have reduced the spare parts production too. Due to demand-supply logistics probably the costs have shooted up. Mustang.101, can comment here if he can to give us a better picture.

Guess, it's thanks to the cars being discontinued? Baleno spares have gone up by a lot as well I hear. Dealers having to stock parts in huge volumes for a car that is no longer selling could be one reason.
