Concorde Motors asks customer to pay ex-showroom price before doing a PDI and refuses to give VIN #

      Hhhhmmm!

bigmoose just booked a Punto from Concorde Motors, Bangalore and paid a 50k advance.

Today he gets a call saying his car will be ready in 3 days but he has to make the full payment today itself. On asking if we could get the VIN number and get to see the car before it goes to registration, the Sales Manager says it's not possible. That is how FIAT rules are. Is this true?

Have all of you booked your cars without even doing a PDI before sending it for registration? Did you guys pay the full amount without even seeing the car?

I did not actually buy the car but had booked one in 2011. I did get the VIN beforehand & I had insisted on seeing the car to which they did present quite a few excuses but never said no. I guess this is dealer specific but would wait for actual owners to chip in.

Was it an independent new dealer?

IIRC Roadking bought a Punto recently from Tata-Fiat dealer and he also did PDI of his car. So I think if dealer is genuine then he should be able to let you see the car.

This may be dealer specific? I made full payment on the day of registration, though took delivery a day later.

This is entirely bulshit. There are no such rules from any damn manufacturer. These are scoundrel dealers tactics.
When i booked my linea, i just paid a mere advance. Car arrived after giving me VIN no. They allowed me to do PDI in the yard itself. When i was satisfied i asked them to go ahead for registeration.
Before the registeration i paid the full amount.

Not only me , so many friends that i know did the same thing. One person had also rejected to pick one linea as he found rust on brake rotors. They were fine with that too.

For the PDI, they washed the car for me , took it on the ramp and helped me with torch and stuffs too.
The only people who really have a problem with FIAT are the ones who never owned it.

Okay. Guys, so, this is what happened today. I got a call from the SA stating that the car will come in about 3 days time and that I need to pay the ex showroom price. I had already told them earlier that I need to see the car and I would make the full payment only after I do a PDI. Then, he says that they will only show the car once I pay the ex-showroom price and that it is their policy and have been following it for a long time. I actually do not think they even have a car allotted for me even after 3 weeks of waiting.

He also tells me that I can cancel the booking or they will show me another car if I am not satisfied with the car which is allotted to me after making the payment. He also tells me that he will give it in writing.

Meanwhile, I checked with Aadhya Motors and they said that they do not have any such policies. I need to pay only Rs.20000 advance (30000 less as compared to what I paid in Concorde, Dairy circle) and need the full payment only after I do the PDI and is satisfied with the car. They are promising delivery within 10-15 days.

Now, I am planning to cancel the booking and book the car from Aadhya motors. Any pointers, Guys?

      Only one word- Crap!

We (customers) have the right to check the car and then pay ex-showroom. What if you do not like the car and then they ask you to wait for months for another car!

I would advice that insist to do the PDI on the car else cancel the booking. Peace of mind is more important .

IIRC, a VIN is allotted once we pay the booking amount. And yeah, no dealer can deny a customer from taking a look at the alloted car before full payment !

Aadhya is doing a good job but not a great one, I took my car from them. You can contact Manjunath at Aadya, he is one guy who knows what needs to be done.

Why dont you try Fiat exclusive on New Airport road?

And yes, please do the PDI... somehow Concorde seems to be doing something wrong.... Let me know if you need any assistance
