Isuzu soft launches 3 products in India

Isuzu which is yet to finalize location India has soft launched 3 products, currently they are brought as CBU from their Thailand plant, production of these model will start once the location is finalized.

To test the market, Isuzu has started with 2 dealership in India, Hyderabad and Coimbatore will get each one dealership and it will sell 3 products which are earmarked for Indian marker. This move is to understand the Indian market response and determine the product line-up for our country.

Coming to the 3 products, Isuzu has launched MU-7 SUV, D-MAX single cab and D-MAX twin cab pick up truck. MU-7 will compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner and other 2 products will compete with TATA Xenon, 207 and Mahindra Genio. The below are the ex-showroom price of the 3 models.

      • MU-7 - 23.75L
      • D-MAX single cab - 6.87L
      • D-MAX twin cab - 8.09L

Isuzu’s D-Max range of pick up trucks are highly acclaimed for their reliability and work horse like nature in countries across the world, prices of the models are kept competitively and Isuzu is expecting to sell in good numbers. Currently, Isuzu hasn't revealed the exact specifications of the models.

Isuzu initial plan is to focus only in TN and AP and once the pilot phase is complete they expand slowly with building their manufacturing plant. Isuzu keen to take part in the LCVs, pick-up range, and SUVs segment pitting MU-7 against Toyota Fortuner and others in the market. The cargo movement in India will slowly but surely shift to roads. As India develops roads and seeks to move goods much faster between cities, the demand for warehouses, cold chains for food will go up. This will open up a big market for LCVs and pick-ups. These will be imported from Thailand.

Isuzu is waiting for the free trade agreement to materialize and once it is implemented they will come out with big plans for India.

Good question, looking at the pricing of 3 models they seem to be at par with locally manufactured one, do we have any trade pact with Thailand which reduces import tax?

IMO the MU-7 looks boxy & the D max twin looks much better in the front & 3/4th stance
