      TATA Motors cuts prices of its hatchback and sedan models!!

      While all major manufacturers are looking forward to increase the price of their models, TML does an u-turn and slashes prices of its hatchback and sedan models, sagging sales and weakening markets has forced TML to take this major decision. In the past 2 years this is the first time a manufacturer is reducing the price to this extent.

      The price cut comes as domestic passenger vehicle volumes of the company declined to 10,613 units in February, a fall of 62 per cent over the corresponding period last year. February sales were the lowest monthly volume in more than six years.

      Indica gets a price cut of 29k and Manza gets a price cut of 50K, the new prices are effective from March 1, 2013. TML decided to keep the Nano prices unchanged. While every other company is offering discounts to lure buyers, this is the first time a company has reduced the price of the models to make it competitive, ageing line-up and cut throat competition from other car makers is the primary reason to this move.

      While reducing the price of their passenger cars, TML has increased the price of Sumo, Aria and Safari due to 3% hike in excise duty, a hike of 7000-11000 has been made on these models

      Kudos to TML for slashing the price considering marketing sentiment, can we expect a similar move from other prominent players? will the market incline towards buyers?

      tata motors cant increase their sales unless they improve their a**. They already have many Vfm hatches and sedans....

      I think this problem is near universal. They also have a hang over from the pure CV days, in that many of the dealerships have been HCV dealers. The mindset is still obsolete. Also, in many ways the lumbering elephant (aka Tata) is the nearest thing to the Govt of India in the private sector.

      What about VISTA? Have they reduced the price of VISTA?

      This is how I read this news bit -

      The most burdensome expense for any product manufacturer is inventory costs.
      TML has done a status check on its inventory all over..including its dealer. listed down the models having most shelf life and have slashed prices there. That's it.
      Its a TATA only scenario. I don't expect this to follow thru with other manufacturers.
      The other models of TML which are selling well will continue as they are.

      Actually the sales figure getting down is very good to hear as the polution levels will come down and the craze for automotive owning will reduce.The TATA instead of reducing the price should increase the quality of the parts should be increased
      Truth is bitter at time, But have to Accept it
