Chevrolet Cruze Z20DMH (150PS) Service Costs Database

So like I mentioned about the issues in one of my previous posts.

Today morning I promptly landed up at the showroom to supervise engine oil being changed.

Stupid, educated IT dudes with no common sense created a 2km traffic jam in front of Manyata Tech Park. I wish cops just shot these guys. There was utter chaos everywhere. And we blame taxi and auto drivers.

Got to the showroom and chaos continued there as well. Place was jam packed with cars and customers. I looked around everywhere and found my car nowhere in the compound. Damn!

Call up the SA who promptly comes looking for me and tells me that my car is safely parked in the body shop and that he will send a mechanic with me so that I can supervise the oil change!

I was almost dreading that he will state some "company policy" that won't let me check my car while the work is being carried out! God bless these guys!

The mech then drove me to the body shop in a Spark and there she was. Oh wait, before I left, I managed to take a glimpse of this monster Cruze!

Have seen a ton of body kits on the Cruze, but I totally love the butch front end treatment on this. Very tastefully done!

Anyways, my car was put on the ramp and the old oil drained out. In went 6.2ltrs of Total Quartz 9000 LS 5W40 synthetic engine oil. And a new oil filter.

I asked the mech if I could inspect the air filter and if found bad, I'd like that to be replaced as well. He informs me that the 10,000 service recommends a air filter change and immediately says I will replace it right in front of you sir.

      Out comes the air filter...

Let me tell you, the thing is really well made. After looking at the filter, there is no way in hell I'd get an aftermarket filter for my car ever. I'd rather stick to changing the OE one as many times as possible. Probably once every 10,000kms. The old filter had clogged up a bit and that was the reason the car has been smoking a wee bit too much off late.

I then told him about the squeaking right brake. He calls an assistant and says take off the rims. We take out the brake pads and to his and my surprise:

      1. Quite a lot of the pad is still left. The mech was like "Sir, usually around 11k, most customers come to us for change of pads. But your pads have a lot of life left in them. Will easily run another 10k kms. I breathe a sigh of relief. Those things cost some 6.5k for a pair of pads! Thank engine braking we practice meticulously.

      2. Close inspection of the pads revealed that the surface of the pad looked like it was scrubbed a lot. Mech also said, I haven't seen a brake pad like this before, usually it's smooth, but these pads are very rough and sorta like chipped! Might be because of the very high speed driving you do on the car? tadukuttan - Have you observed something similar on the old Elantra brake pads?

Ok, then came the bad news! The body shop manager came over to inspect the running board damage and told me that I'd have to get the entire left running board replaced. And that it was better I claimed insurance and ordered the part (as they don't have it in stock). The whole running board costs after labour and painting approx..... 50 thousand bucks!

I've placed an order for the running board. Should be here in about 15 days. All the fixing of dents and scratches will happen then.

Company also recommends a mandatory AC Pollen filter to be changed at 10,000kms and that was changed too.

Looks like they also did wheel alignment and set right the left pulling issue. And I wasn't even charged for it. The steering seems well weighted now.

Went and picked up the car in the evening. Only gripe was that the windshield wasn't cleaned properly. And there were oil stains on the front door handles and the petrol tank. Overlooked them as I know the service centre is way too overloaded and everyone is overworked.

Since Sundaram Motors shut shop, they have been forced to take up the extra load and even in such times I really appreciate them allowing to over see the work on my car with no qualms/complaints. Infact, the guys were very helpful and friendly and if I knew this is what I'd sign up for, I'd gladly pick up a Chevrolet.

      Bill Amount -

      1. Total Quartz 7ltrs engine oil - 4298 @ 614/ltr.
      2. AC filter - 1730.
      3. Air filter - 722.
      4. Oil filter - 567.
      5. Gasket - 18.5.

      Total - 7337 + 1027 (VAT) = 8365.

Car seems to be eagerly revving after the air filter and engine oil change. The turbo shove that was missing for a while is now back! AC is working better than it was earlier. And brakes feel much much better.

Another funny thing I noticed was that after the service, the clutch isn't being it's usual self. Usually, it kicks back pretty hard, it was smooth and easy going today!

All in all I'd give a rating of 9.5/10 for the service!

Not sure! On a regular day itself Trident is jam packed. Mention the word FREE and everyone will line up! I would personally not go for such camps!

I too got an SMS from Trident Sales Manager about the camp, but like I said earlier, I wouldn't go to one knowing the choas that's going to be there during these days.
