Honda City a good buy now?

      Hello guys,

Is buying a Honda city now a wise decision? My friend is looking to buy a car within 9 lakhs OTR price. He is not interested in hatchbacks also...We went to TD the new amaze today and he was not impressed with the car.Meanwhile, the sales executive advised him to get the ANHC..All of us know that its the best petrol car available in that price range. But we came to know that anew version of the Honda City will be launched by the end of this year. However, the executive told that Honda has not confirmed it ..My friend is confused now..If he buys the Honda city now,it will be outdated and the resale value will also get reduced when the new version will be launched..

Is he planning to sell the car within 1 year??. The resale value will not change much when he is trying to sell it after 5-6 years IMO.

IMO he would not have used the car to its full potential in 3 years unless he is driving more than 20K kms in a year. If thatis the case then he would be going for a diesel rather than petrol.

IMO he would have done max 30k kms in 3 years and I don't think he would be selling it so easily. Never-the-less it is his money and idea.

Let the experts talk on the car then

For a relatively long term ownership, the City should be a good choice; given the running is low (< 15K pa).

If he's worried bout the impending new variant, why not check out the other options? Or it has to be Honda only?

The Vento Petrol is still pretty new, for a new car.
      The Tjet is back.

Then tell him to go for ANHC eyes closed, he can't go wrong with City, I wonder why he even thought of test driving the Amaze. City is far-far better car than Amaze.

RAHUL S, ask your friend to read my ANHC ownership thread. Long Term Ownership Review : Chala Happy Car Lakhpati Banne

I bought the vehicle in May 2009. I have listed the total cost of ownership over last 4 years and the vehicle is about to reach 90000 KMs. Most probably it will end up with some 92000KMs in 48 months.

I have decided to retain the vehicle for next 2 years more.

Am not sure if you have considered a turbo petrol. Wouldn't a VW 1.2 TSI be more fun to drive than a Honda City?
That motor may eventually make it to the new Vento as well.
Drive it like you stole it and Detail it like you own it.
