Will take it this weekend. Its been a year. Have changed the oil a few months back. Its mineral. Oil change interval is 4-5k kms. Just wanted to know if even the compression needs to be checked?

When asking for vehicle related advice ALWAYS give us a little more background in a structured fashion .. .Will help give you a more practical suggestion. Its no different than with Doctors... one needs to understand the background to be able to assess properly.

      1. Model (year)
      2. How long since you have had it (in case it was bought used)
      3. Previous service record - intervals etc.
      4. Any problems in the past (may have been rectified)
      5. Existing symptoms

You can check the compression. But to do that the dealership needs to have a special tool

Sorry for the delayed reply. Post my above problems my driving has been limited. Coupled with this there were some impurities in the coolant tank which was flushed out by using some oil recommended by the garage guy. Now the coolant is clear(greenish) with no impurities. I forgot to mention in my earlier post that the engine was losing some oil which I had not noticed earlier, but off late it had become pronounced. My mechanic even suggested the hard clutch was one of the reasons for the lower power delivery and the low power AC switched on which has been replaced now. But the power delivery saw no improvement while the clutch slightly smoothened out. However on a recent long drive (about 300 kms to- and fro) I had topped up with a semi-synthetic oil from BP petrol pump(the reserve oil is pure mineral).Post the trip anyways the power was nothing great as before. So anyways tried to get it inspected from a new mechanic for the loss of power. So I saw symptoms similar to another post on gear heads(related to blowby). My mechanic on seeing the blow-by( gases along with tiny oil particles coming out from the oil filling inlet coming out which was minimal before). My mechanic is suggesting a cylinder liners change coupled with valve seals, piston rings etc. So I am wondering whether any of the piston rings, cylinder liners or valve seals have gone kaput or is the new semi-synthetic oil anything to do with this. Should I get my engine opened? or should I go step by step, first by checking the compression, PCV , turbo oil seals and narrow down the actual cause. It would be of great help if my expert friends help me out here. thanks

Not an expert but would suggest a compression test first
