Sample sizes or full sized products??

Just trying to gauge an opinion so we kind of know how to supply products.

In the UK people would tend to buy 5 Litres of a snow foam or wheel cleaner for example as it works out cheaper in the long run.

Even with polishes most people go with 500ml/16oz bottles.

I notice a lot of sample sizes being sold for example, 50ml of Iron X.

What do you purchase more off, regular sized products that work out cheaper in the long run or one-time use sample sizes?

(not in the poll.. but would anyone consider buying 5 Litres of a product?)

First, I would like to check the product will perform good in Indian conditions. If its fine, then I'll buy at least 1 liter or gallon. This is what I am following when I buy Meg's stuff.

Other than that, when fordfan says you can buy, I'll buy without checking anything. That's how I bought some stuff and which are great!

if its a new product, i prefer buying a smaller size like 500 ml or 1 litre to try it out...if i like it, i go straight to the UK gallon / 5 litre

but then again it depends on the product too...something like a sealant may not come in 5 litre cans...even a 500 ml would last long time

but for regular consumables like shampoos, apc, qd etc, i absolutely like big sizes or at least 500 ml or 1000 ml bottles

+1, except for sealants / waxes as fordfan mentioned.

      + 1

I would like to test samples before i buy as i mostly see them as investments on the car on the long run than hedging.

Ok... what if a brand didnt offer any sample sizing.

For example some ceramic/nano sealants such as cquartz, nanolex or gtechniq might cost £30-40 but obviously dont offer samples.

In this case would you base your decision to buy primarily on user reviews?

I would like a sample and then buy the full gallon size after my own testing.
Drive it like you stole it and Detail it like you own it.

Yes. Some products which come out with unparalleled positive reviews can be bought with just user reviews. Also you could look at the option of decanting(though i am not in favour of this) and selling it in smaller quantities like others do if people request.

For Waterless wash/rinseless wash/APC/WheelCleaner/Foaming shampoos/Iron X/Tar X and the likes i would be interested to pick up a gallon or litre.

      For polishes would prefer 16OZ/500Ml

For waxes and sealant 100 ML to 200ML max

MF towels - Pack of 3

      Mitts - 1 at a time

Basically the idea is to keep stocks for maintaining the car for a period of 6 months to 1 year.

would still check how long the product has been on the market, the pricing, the ease of use application/ removal and ofcourse user reviews.

I need gallons only as need for using regularly for my work. I have nothing in small so even for self use can get cheaper that way!
