      Startup problems

Of late I have been facing issues with engine startup. On occasions, the engine would just not start in the first attempt. However, in the second or third attempt it does start. Initially, I thought it could be due to suspect quality fuel. It doesn't matter whether it is a cold start or otherwise. The other day, the car refused to start after a 100 km drive. However, this doesn't happen regularly. Recently my car underwent its third free servicing, after which, the issue had vanished for a few days, but now it is back with a vengeance. During the service, the starter motor was checked, the alternator was checked and the battery was checked too. Since the fuel filter air filter etc. are all new, I wonder why this startup problem persists. The ECU scanner detects the following errors. These were apparently resolved by the ECU software itself - an explanation that reeks of ridiculousness.

P0657 - Congruence of main relay battery voltage upstream/downstream
      P0335 - Engine speed signal
P0087 - Press, on injector support
      Any clues what these mean?

The issue is going from bad to worse and the TASS has no clue what's wrong. There is no point complaining to Fiat as the matter would only be referred back to the TASS, which is anyways clueless. Taking the car on longer drives has become risky, never know when it just refuses to start.
      Suggestions solicited.

Get the battery checked, if the battery is healthy, then

Check the battery negative to chassis connection, the ground terminal would be mostly rusty.

You need to get the ECU wiring, Crank position sensor, and the fuel pressure sensor checked. Unfortunately only the ASS can do it. If your ASS is clueless you will have to get Fiat involved.

Looks like an electrical issue - either wiring or the sensor itself. To begin with remove all the connectors , clean using an electrical cleaner, and put them back. Second step swap out these sensors with one from another car and see if it solves the problem (grey area - to remove parts from another car - even to test!). Their service manual will contain test methodology to check for electrical problems with the sensors/wring. You will have to isolate each part and run the tests for you to narrow down on the issue.

Seems like similar symptoms to tadukuttan's Elantra.

If I were you, I'd get the Crankshaft Position Sensor replaced.

P0335 error is usually a faulty CKPS.

I think its the P0657 which is at fault. When this is fixed, the other faults will go away after you delete them.

The crankshaft positioning sensor is too expensive a part to change in fault finding. I think its the P0657 which is at fault. When this is fixed, the other faults might go away after you delete them.
