      Figo Brake upgrade options.

I got my Figo TDCi in the first batch sold in 2010. At that time, nobody in the showroom explained to me that the Non ABS versions had smaller brakes, and since it was only for city use, i picked up the EXI, which was readily available opposed to the Titanium which had a long waiting period(then)

The only issue i find with the car is the totally inadequate braking. Above 70, its really hard to stop the car at all!!

initially the car had decent brakes, but used to make a grinding noise everytime i braked. I got that replaced under warranty, but after that the brakes are ery spongy and lack bite.

I have taken to ford in Cochin and chennai, but they all say the brake is fine, and 'Figo has a high tech booster, u need to press harder to stop!!'

3 years and 40k kms with the car and im just out of warranty, and I am now willing to experiment a bit with it.

The main thing i need corrected is the Brakes. What are the options for that?

      1) Fiesta Rotors and calipers. IIRC they are of bigger size and should offer more bite. Since i have don't have ABS, i guess will need to get from a similar fiesta variant. Can anyone confirm the rotor sizes of the figo and fiesta?

      2) Better Pads- Are any better pads available for the figo?

      3) Any better option?

Any inputs / suggestions on option 1 especially would be appreciated.

You could go for Aftermarket brake rotors/Pads like Tarox , Brembo etc. Mi10 has them on his fiesta and should be available for the figo too. Check with Petes.

The Non titanum version of the figo comes with smaller rotors than the Titanium, which shares it with the ABS fiesta. All aftermarket Pads and rotors are available in that size only!

Doing that soon. The OE MRF's are at the end of their life. Planning on going to 185. Dnt want anything fancy as i'm using this as my daily drive in the city. Max i will get a set of OE alloys too, as i do not want to upgrade to 15, or 195.

My main issue is that there is no feel at all. it does not feel as though the car is interested to stop. Would this improve with tires?

Can not a FASS install Titanium braking system in your Figo? I have Figo Titanium and brakes are real punchy even at 27000 kms.

How many kms have you completed. Upgrade to softer tyres. If you feel Rotors are very expensive, you can try changing to better quality pads.

What they tell about the booster is real BS.

Yes, will improve if you get good tyres! Most of all, even if you don't get the feel, the car will stop way better than the current tyres you are running right now.

Just get the figo ABS version rotors, callipers and couple of other parts are required for the swap.
Its easy and any Ford service should be able to do it.
My friend got it done at ford service centre here in Mumbai.
IMO thats your best option, feels much better than stock.

For fixing this bit, do a pressure bleed on your brake system.

You could DIY this, or use any service center with a pressure bleeder. Every time my brakes are touched by the service center dudes, they come back spongy, and I have to redo the pressure bleeding bit.

The first pic in this post has a pic of my bleeder - DIY done by the members so far. - Page 11
