SS piping "hoses" instead of regular rubber hoses on my Ford Figo

      Hi GearHeads,
Am toying with the idea of replacing the stock brake hoses on my #Ford #Figo with proper stainless steel "hoses". I refer to them as "hoses" because what i'm actually meaning is appropriate dia steel piping.

      Has anyone done this on a #Ford #Figo ?
      TIA.

I remember reading somewhere that steel brake lines just improve the feel and don't do much in terms of the braking performance. getkaizer you might want to see this

Car enthusiasts go gaga over braided stainless steel brake lines -- the steel-encased Teflon flexes considerably less than ordinary rubber hoses, making for a firmer pedal feel. But controversy surrounds the safety of braided stainless steel hoses, since they can fail if they're not replaced regularly and protected from debris. If braided stainless steel is in your future, buy from a reputable supplier, and look for lines that come with a polyurethane jacket to prevent chafing.

Don't you mean SS tubing since these will be fractional inch dia. I thought vehicles equipped with ABS came with such metallic tubes unless the tubes are only for the ABS circuit i.e. the sensor and the wiring etc. and the brake fluid flows through the standard non metallic ones.

Thanks jaguar i'm a bit paranoid about the stock hoses getting cut, nicked, cracked and hence the idea of moving to steel "hoses".

Yes khoj i did mean a solid SS tube without any braiding.

Did you intend to replace the entire line or just the lines from the brake cylinders (which in most cases is mettallic already). I don't think you can replace the flexible section close to the wheels with a solid SS tube since the design necessitates it to be flexible.

^^ Digital Vampire I'd like to change the rubber portion of the hoses that appear near the wheels. So this line is basically coming from the chassis and goes to the wheel hub.
