Exclamation USED Supercars or Luxury cars??? Good Idea??

Its Obvious Supercars are for sale, at the same time, they are cheap. A bit of advantage is they are more reliable.

These episodes of Fifth Gear and Wheeler Dealers in Discovery Turbo shows a fact!
Fifth gear they show these cars BMW Z4/ Porsche / Mazda RX-Z, and in wheeler Dealers a BMW M5.
All these cars were in the range of 4000-5000 Pounds (upto Rs 5,00,000).
Unfortunately either they arent available in India or if they are, costs more than double, some are hilariously expensive. You all must be wondering why such a impossible buy when you can buy brand new Rs10-20 Lakh cars. But as Jason Plato said "Life is too Short". Its hard to resist.
I had seen a person in Bangalore who owns a two wheeler dealership he has cars such as BMW M5 and Mercedes GL classes imported from US/UK. I have seen both the cars, closely but never could meet him. My Friend met a guy who is student and bought a BMW 1996 model for Rs 8 Lakhs, In Bangalore.
Arent these hard to resist cracking deals. Though they are high in maintainence, but for rare use, wouldnt be cheap to maintian?
Guys what do you have to say on this. Anyone u know had purchased any such cars? And if so such cheap cars in UK or US when it gets shipped down to India does it cost +100% (Import Duties and shipping charges). And Majorly How maintainence of such cars feel like?

As far as my knowledge, It is legal to import used cars, as far as the documents are clean, and we pay duties, bring it Legally. One of my friend said it cannot save much due to heavy duties. There are websites to calculate import duties for car based on Price of the car(used or New) ; Year of Manufacture; Engine capacity ; Class; Segment etc the percentage varies. Do have a look.

You cannot import used cars>3 years old (from the date of manufacture) if you are staying here in India. There are ways to bypass the rules, but it will invite trouble in the future. The headaches are not worth it.
Otherwise, if you have lived in a foreign land for some time, you are allowed to import your cars.

It must be better and cheaper to buy RHD cars and transport them from Singapore. They are not allowed to keep cars for more than 10 years there and have done very low mileage.

True, you are absolutely right, thank you.

Found This Website for the rules and stuffs, would be helpful
Anyways I have few places to enquire, where they have imported cars for sale, here in Bangalore, will properly enquire.
The Best way i suppose is get it shipped from some known accomplices who are stayed abroad. Later get it transfered on our name.

Well to avoid hurdles, there are cars like BMW 3/5/7/M Series and which were bought during period of 1995-2005 In India, Even Mercedes cars, Which will be well within our reach, and are found in abundance in used car online websites.
The Biggest shock I got was once in my college found a Mercedes C class checked the car found it to be '06 Model, He had upgraded just alloys was Sexy! Looked up in these big online sites and found it in just mere 6 figure price tag. Yes where you pay for a hatchback midvariant in todays market this guy bought a Mercedes!!
Provided you have a everyday car in your carshed these cars can ad value to your car shed.

I suppose that is the best way to avoid hurdles and in enjoy owning such German Brands !
