Thumbs up I-Gen I20 Asta features on Sportz

      Hi Members ,

Since the day the I-Gen I20 Sports CRDI joined our garage in April 2012 , I was looking forward for make improvements in the features of my car compared to the Asta version .

Hence A few weeks I prepared the list of additional features that go into Asta compared to Sportz .
      The Features :
      1. Auto headlights
      2. Super Vision Instrument Cluster
      3. Push button Start/stop
      4. Passenger Airbag

Note : In order to install some of the above features wiring needs to be done and needs be carefully done and this might void the warranty for some modifications.

I have decided to Add only the auto headlights and the supervision instrument cluster only as of now , as the rest of the features will cost you a bomb and needed a lot of things to be removed and refitted(Will Discuss further in the post) so will do it later .

      Feature ONE: Auto headlights

The Auto headlight feature needs a signal from a light sensor and this sensor is fixed on the centre of the dashboard just below the front wind shield . and this sensor is only available in the Asta variant only, and the Sportz variant has a sensor in the same place but this is only Photo sensor which is used but the (FATC) . Hence here is the first difference in the infrastructure . The photo sensor in the sportz variant needs to be replaced by a photo and auto lights sensor.
Now the second difference is the Light switch assembly A.K.A combination switch .The sportz has only parking and headlights mode , but the asta assembly has the Auto mode Also . Hence this is mandate and needs to be replaced and a wire need to be run from the combination switch to the B.C.M.( Body control module) , This wire sends the signal to B.C.M. to use this feature .
Now come the most crucial part(the wiring) , after we replace the sensor , the socket present has only 2 wires that go to the FATC , hence three wires need to be run from the sensor to the B.C.M. for the auto light feature , these are the signal wires . This sounds kind of difficult , but with the Aid i have it is simple .
Once the wiring is done and all the switches and sensors in place . Your vehicle is now equipped with auto headlights .
I have tried and checked the feature, works like a charm .

      The total cost Incurred :
      Sensor : Rs 1048/-
      Combination Switch : Rs : 1058/-
Wiring : Got it from a local mechanic
Feature TWO: Super Vision Instrument Cluster
This feature is the most easy one to be that can be done .
First you need to order the Instrument Cluster . This will cost you a lot .
Then once it has arrived , you need to remove the existing cluster and just place fix the new one in place and you will see that it works like a charm .
      Cost incurred :
Super vision instrument cluster : Rs 14798/-
      Feature Three & Four :
Since I am not installing these feature , I will provide the parts that are required to do these and the costs , but will post the process once I have done it
But it is confirmed that these can be done .
      Part required :
      Dashboard wiring : Rs 19999/-
PDM( This controls the power supply with the push button) : Rs 8654/-
      Start/stop button : Rs 6023/-
Front door wiring (LH & RH) : Rs 11563/-
Door handle (Four doors ) : Rs 10689/-
      Passenger AirBag :Rs 35000/-
Dashboard( it has cutting for push button) : Rs 8658/-
Total cost for Feature Three and four : Rs 100586/-

I could help you guys if you want to get any of these features on your car
I could Help you in procuring parts also other than these parts for any hyundai cars

Great work there Mayur! Even I had considered upgrading to these features when my friend got his i20 Sports.
The one thing I must point out here is - considering the cost of these upgrades, one is better off getting an Asta itself in the first place as AFAIK the difference in price (for the diesel) is only around 50k!

Besides there's nothing like factory fit - my friend has got the Asta's spoiler but the fitting on that sucks.

The Foglamp + LED DRL combo is already there on the Sports Variant of the i20.
For those who own older i20's or the Magna variant, these are plug and play - available for 10k.

Well, bro I own a June 2012 Crdi Sport'Z' myself and the DRL + foglamps were introduced only in Dec 2012.
The car in question here is an April 2012.

Are you very sure of the price because karan22 enquired about them and he was quoted exactly double of that amount !!
