Need help in troubleshooting problem in Splendor

      hello bike gurus,

need a help. I have Hero Honda splendor 1999 model. Recently I have been having problem.
1)the bike when started sounds like always choke is on.
2)It used to run good for 3 kms or may be 5 - 10 minutes.
3)After that sound comes like some blockage is there dab-dab-dab and then engine stops. If i kick start again it starts but within seconds off. After that it doesnot start at all.

I leave it for 2 -3 hours and the steps 1 to 3 repeats and bike doesn't start.

Recently the engine work(rebore), clutch plate, coil change was done by private mechanic. But before the work was done also this problem was there. After doing engine work also same problem is present. So i dont think its related to engine.
During this problem the petrol of around 2 Litre is present , also engine oil is till the recommended level.

I m not so much knowledgeable in bikes. What could be the problem.

Will this be problme of Fuel line blockage.
Will this be engine heating up and ceasing (because after some cooling engine starts)

      Tagging #bangalore #chennai biker guys

From my limited knowledge of engines here's what i think is the problem, machi vijay

      01. Is the throttle getting stuck in the "off" position and there fore not enough fuel air mixture going to the carb?
      02. Is the carb jet clogged?
      03. Is the carb float stuck?
      04. If the bike has been standing around for a long time maybe the fuel has turned to varnish. If this is the case, please clean the fuel tank completely and refuel with fresh fuel and try again.
      05. Maybe choke is stuck in open position causing flooding in the carb?
      06. Maybe you are putting fuel tap in "main tank position" while it should actually be in "reserve" position?

      Hope this helps.

There is only one way to find out. You have to open the carburettor and pull out the jet and visually inspect it for clog.

You will encounter the float also when you remove the carburettor jet. The float looks like a square / semi circular box which does same job of the ball float in the flush tank of toilets.

Do this only if the bike has , indeed, been standing for a year. Else if you are using it regularly then no need.
