Post Software Upgrade for I 20 1.4 crdi

      Hello Members,

Attention to all the owners of I20 1.4 CDRi. an important software update has been launched for uphill performance improvement of the car .

Installing the software has improved the uphill ascent performance , I have tested and checked it personally before and after the installation .

Main aspect I have felt that have improved is you donot need to downshift often when you slow down , and I personally have checked and the mileage has improved a bit . (Warning : The mileage improvement is not mentioned or promised by hyundai but it have checked the tank full to tank full method and it has improved ..

Please go to the nearest dealer workshop to get this update installed , it is really worth the update.

(this update is only for the 1.4 crdi engine )

No , but it will be done by the service technicians if you mention about poor pickup uphill or you can ask them for updates if any when you go for service .

usually they update it as a protocol when ever cars go for service .

Ceekay you need to ask for software update on i20 diesel for uphill performance improvement . Tell him to check with their warranty section or team which deals with softeare updates. Some SA's are really lazy you know.

I just got my i20 crdi 10k service done last week. I complained the SA about poor fuel economy but he didnt mention about any such software udate. And one more thing I am getting only 15-16 kmpl that to 90% of my usage is in highway. I am a light footer, I upshift at around 2k rpm very rarely I go till 2.5k and i dont drive beyond 120kmph. Is this the normal fuel economy of i20 crdi.

Seems like you need to change your driving style. TCed cars need to be kept in the boost rpm range for max economy. Shift gears after you are done with the turbo kick in each gear, of course leaving out first and top gear. Try this and am damn sure your FE would improve. What you are doing now is driving out of the turbo range. Also you need to push your car once in a while to the limits, Ford recommends it as a practice in the manual, but it's common sense to practice this in all TCed diesels.

BTW, ever tried following the gear shift indicator on your instrument console? Am hoping yours is the I-gen i20.

      Hey thank you,
In the starting I used to follow the gear shift indicator but once when I was doing 140+ kmph the shift indicator started showing me to upshift when I was already in 6th gear (it was showing 6 and an arrow in the up direction) from then I thought this shift indicator isnt accurate like the one in my vw vento and stopped following it.

      Software upgrade

      Hi,

I just now called the Trident Service Centre in Bangalore, the guy said that the software will be automatically upgraded when the car is scanned using G-Scan tool. Is this the way (GScan) the software is upgraded?

BTW, i have iGen i20 CRDI, Spotz version.
