ID:	161762 nd needed replacement. A few weeks ago i had taken the car to a MASS (Chowgule Industries Limited) to get new Lower Arms Fitted, fortunately a friend who works there got it jacked and lifted in a few minutes, told me to come by 2:30pm and pick the car up, He also removed the Drive shafts to check if they were worn. He out another DS, checked and went for a test drive , only to notice that the RHS Drive Shaft was slipping. Car did not get drive when turned fully to the left.
When i went to pick it up, he told me this and said i might have to keep the Car and order the parts. I paid the Labour for the Lower Arms and went home with a Friend, leaving my baby near my uncles house. Lower Arms : 5500/- +Labour: 955/- Click image for larger version.

      Parts Needed:
      LHS + RHS Drive Shafts
      Intermediate Shaft

Thankfully my fellow friend made sure i did not have trouble parking it, and lightened my tension , since ive never left the car overnight before. Due to the urgency, i had to opt for Aftermarket parts, MGP/SGP parts wuld take more than 15 days to come in and are Expensive.

There and then i ordered the Drive Shafts from Auto Factory Spares in Panjim. But the intermediate shaft was'nt available, so i waited a day to order that. Parts issue sorted. It took 2 days for the Drive Shafts to arrive and another 1 day for the Intermediate.

      Parts Cost:
      Drive Shafts : 4800/- Each
      Intermediate Shaft: 2100/-

Once i picked the parts, i just dumped them in the back seat and tried getting my car to the workshop a few minutes away. The car drove fine on the straight, until you came to a left hand corner, if i was at speed it turns fine, if i come to a dead stop and then take a left, its like Thor has got tangled inside the engine and wants to break loose. The whole engine vibrates like you know what. Thankfully no left hand corner till MASS. They told me the car will be ready by evening or by next morning. Picked up the car next day. Charged 1450/- labour for god knows what! 450 just for checking the Intermediate. Once i drove it, felt fine happinessss ..for now. The grinding sound at idle is still there now. Im guessing its the GB Bearings or the Clutch release Bearing, not sure though. Could someone help out? Not sure if this problem has been solved . Thank you

Are you sure the grinding noise is coming from the engine and not the steering or suspension related parts?

Baleno has a peculiar problem of lower arms, steering column ball joints, tie rod ends going bad. I just replaced on my car a few days ago.

Also are all your gears slotting properly? Any changes in the clutch pedal feel or clutch slipping?

Im from Panjim, Goa. Does'nt seem to be engine sound, seems like something related to the GB or the diff and yes the gears are a bit clunky. It sound like the two gears are mshing with no oil . Before the DS replacement the sound used to come only during idle (clutch not depressed), and now the sound is there at idle and while driving (apart from neutral). Although the clutch isnt slipping.
Should've changed the GB Bearings when i got the DS fitted Will check minutely and give more details. BTW Your Baleno is

Build it the way you want it, the way it reflects your personality.

Hhhmmm! Seems like you either have a few busted synchros in your gearbox or probably your engine mounts have gone bad too.

Can you have them both checked?
