Post New Look of Indica Xeta

Yeah finally after all the discussions and planning, I have changed the wheels and tyres of my Indica.

The search was on for a alloy wheels after i had a tuff time in my last visit to Chittoor. Rim was damaged near Sholingur, when following a bus, missed a pothole then i decided to change them. Search was on for the brands, the quality and the budgeting. Googled for info on alloy and the issues/advantages in upsizing from 13" to 14", also checked with PCH for info as he is running the same config of tyres in his Indica. Checked with Nikhil if there is any used alloy available with him for my car, after a quiet long discussion I agreed for a new set of alloys. Within 15 mins i get a call from Nikhil that he has a new set of Aura alloys with 108 PCD and its black which will look better for Artic Silver coloured Indica.

After alloys, was looking out for tyres, more than brand, drive quality, braking & handling was on my mind. In the current set up the drive quality was better. So was confused b/w two Apollo accelere or Michelin XM1+. Checked with Rahul, Nithin and some other friends at my office as they are running Apollo & they were satisified for the 3 things which i mentioned earlier. Decided to go with Aura Alloys set of 4, Spare wheel ( Steel Rim) & Apollo Accelere tyres setup 185/60/14.

It was supposed to be fitted coming Monday, but then i didnt have anything to do at home, changed my mind called up Nikhil finalised on the alloy and tyres. Told him that I will be meeting him around 2pm, but he was busy asked me to go there and he has spoken to his partner Ravi. I went hunting for the spare wheel and got one from Hitech Motors, TASC Rajajinagar, priced at 977. Went to Madhu's Tyres at 3.30pm and got the alloys and tyres fitted, it looks good on the Indica now. Spare wheel was not fitting in the slot, now i have to change the spare wheel tyre from 185/60/14 to 175/60/14 which will be done on Monday. Now coming to the Pricing part...

Total cost - 28,477 (Set of 4 Aura Alloy - 14k, 1 Spare Steel rim - 977, Set of 5 Apollo Accelere - 16K, and the old set up got me 2.5k) this includes balancing, alignment & nitrogen gas. Some pics during set up..

Those alloys do look awesome! I'm glad. Our Getz has a similar set of alloys and I simply love them!

Dhruv congrats on the new purchase.

Those alloys have been there too long and they suck .Looks too boring and common. You could have tried something fresher.

It may look boring in pics. Trust me, I saw it last night and it looks superb on Dhruva's Xeta.

      Hhmmm..

      1. Some people can't *throw* money around while buying car accessories.
      2. 108 PCD is not something you will find in many companies or designs.
      3. Weird PCD increases the price factor again.
      4. Alloy choice is subjective.

Dhruv, these will outlast any Chinese/Taiwan make alloy you get in the market these days. Assuming that you do take bad roads from time to time. I purchased my Corolla alloys for 5k for 5 from the Gujri, I have seen friends break their expensive Lenso/OZ/BBS on the same roads while these didn't suffer more than a few scratches. They didn't look as flashy as the rest, but I didn't have cry over cracking my more expensive alloys . I have seen Aura's take a lot of abuse and come out flawless. I don't understand why the company couldn't find a work around to their labour problems and had to shut shop instead. Most Aura alloys are unbreakable, literally.. And that is what you need on our roads.

Boss did i speak about imported alloys or reliablity.

Secondly i dont throw around money ,and would not dare to spend as much cash on mods as u do ,is it always needed for you to throw your ass in every thing and justify,i just saw the alloys and didnt like them ,thats my opinion ,where did i talk about reliablility nor did i ask him to buy expensive ones.

Since you started about imported alloys ,im using them for atleast 7 of my cars and driven them in baddest of the roads including driving sedans like a jeep in your terms,no problem as such, most of the cracked imported alloys i have see were running very low profile tyres ,non of the aura ,neo customers run that setup ,and even till recently indian alloy customers were considered sidey .

Speaking about friends cars i have seen atleast 40 cars ,all maniacs nothing happened.

If you really want to crack an alloy ,you can brand dosent matter.

That bit of my post wasn't related to you at all. I was just telling Dhruv the advantages of not choosing a Chinese/Taiwanese make just for the looks since Dhruv and me have been discussing about this for the past few weeks. And Dhruv wasn't sure if the Aura's were worth the money he was going to pay. No offense, but I don't see why you have to get so worked up about it.

is it always needed for you to throw your ass in every thing and justify
All I said was its hard to find alloys in 108 PCD which you seem to have overlooked and most of us have confined budgets while out shopping.

Lastly, Dhruv has bought these alloys with his hard earned money and like many of us I am sure is super excited about running on alloys from the drab old steel rims. I don't want to spoil his day by derailing this thread or by discouraging him. He loves the alloys and I am happy for him.
