      Vibration while accelerating - Baleno

Once again she leaves me stranded. Im guessing the release bearing decided to part ways. Was driving down to the city today, and the car (like clutch slipp but harsh) started vibrating when i accelerated, slipping the clutch. Drove to some nearby safe spot and left her there. Just going to MASS now, will update with info.
Can anyone give shed some light on this? What could it be? Its really urgent. Tagging mclaren1885

The car is at MASS, for gearbox work. Loads of bearings here and there, oil seals and spring pins and stuff. Total estimate was 10k with labour. 4k for parts, 6k for labour. I wasnt satisfied with the price quoted. i asked him for the parts list, and told him il order the parts from somewhere else as it will take atleast 10-20 days for the parts if i order from MASS. Most parts are small and cost less than Rs 100. Just about to send the list to two Spare parts shops. i know GB work is intense but, Why is the labour so high?

Baleno is an expensive car to maintain.

if you are sourcing the parts yourself, get SGP items from an authorized retailer. using cheap, unknown quality parts might put you in a similar situation again.

techn0l0gist should be able to help you out with good info.

Yes i agree to that sir, and most of the parts will be SGP but sourced from an other dealer, will be a bit cheaper. A small question, they did not tell me to replace the Realease bearing, although im sure the grinding at idle is the release bearing, whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

if you get them parts by yourself, there is a good chance that they will be unhappy about it and give you sub standard service. do you want to waste 6K and take that chance? I suggest you get the service done elsewhere, too.

The car has been at mass for around a month awaiting parts. And finally got her back today. The gears shift really well, no odd sounds from the gearbox as of now. Bearings were replaced. Parts came to around 3500 and labour was 4k. Not sure but will post exact cost for it later. Suprisingly the shell gear oil was included in this lol.

In another 5k kms the Clutch set is going to be replaced along with other minor things from time to time. Um. Could anyone tell me wat a pilot bearing is?

Thats it. Really happy to have her back.

Some engines have a needle bearing inside the crankshaft where the output shaft of the gearbox goes into the engine after the clutch. These were common in cars with the De Dion tube but dont think they are used today. I have not seen these bearings for ages.
