New Sedan : Hyundai Fluidic 1.6 or Honda City CVT Automatic / Petrol or Diesel

Ok so I know I am trying to ask too many questions together. What I am actually baffled about is should I go for Petrol or Diesel.
While my running is not that much on weekdays, though on weekends I do intend to drive more than 100kms and sometimes 150kms even.

So, If I go for Diesel, should I go for Verna Fluidic or Honda City new Diesel. I know Hyundai engine is more powerful.

Now I am not a big fan of diesel cars, and wanted to go for comfort at same time watch my pocket. In that case I got option of Honda City AT. Which is good powerhorse and for sure a good ride too.

Hence I wanted honest opinion of my fellow GHians what would they prefer. I hope I do get some balanced debate in favour of honda and against, similarly for Hyundai fluidic too.

      Cheers!

      Hi!
If you're going to get a petrol one then sure give City a chance.
I'd soo suggest you to check Vento as well.

      Thanks mate for your suggestion.
Vento I did firstly take into account, however since I am looking for power ratio plus AT. I believe Honda is what I will hang on to.
What is the thought on Diesel ?
With my running average around 1000 kms - 1200 kms a month, verna diesel makes good choice ? Only downside is with the given budget I can only go for high end line of Verna manual. Plus Verna automatic gearbox is old school and not refined one.

Then there is TSI + 7 speed DSG package also available in Vento, nothing comes close to it in this AT segment. its available in hatch avatar (Polo) too.

I think you have very limited options in diesel AT category, there is one in Verna. Not sure if AT is available in City D.

That is true. TSI is good option, but then Honda is far better if I see power plus comfort and ofcos reliability for ASS.
There is NONE other option in Diesel in Automatic at all
Thats why I am in dilemma...cost of Honda VX AT is same as Verna SX Opt model Manual while Verna is diesel, honda is petrol :~

Why not giving Toyota Mark 2 (late 90s and early 20s models) a try? Its off the hook! They're big machines! But not sure about the Indian market for this machine.

Rip them during your test drives and then please also try to take a test drive of any TSI+DSG car. I am not advising to buy that but test drive will ensure that you can atleast update your definition which you are carrying about 'powerful AT' cars. In the AT cars, its the gearbox which matters more than the engine.
