      Any thoughts on Datsun go?

Guys any thoughts of Datsun go? looks cool. I feel its better than its chief competitors Alto k10 and Eon. (Looks wise atleast)

Has lot of boot space and quite powerful engine as well.

The joint seat at the front is pretty peculiar. Reminded me of the Ambyys and the Padminis.
I feel it's going to become a good Taxi.

The base variant only has a heater, no air con. The air con is only avaible with the Second top model 'A' @ 3.46Lacs. And the power steering is available only on the top most model 'T' @ 3.70 Lacs. I.e., the car worth buying for city use is only the T variant since power steering is an essential feature which buyers don't want to miss!

      PS: All prices are ex-showroom

In my quest for a new car, I visited Nissan showroom to have a look at Datsun go and micra.

It is a long/stretched car. Looks are fine, but as soon as you touch the door handle, you would be taken back. Open the door and you can find wafer thin doors and door pads. Even a nano's doors feel built better. I went ahead and sat in driver seat. As soon as driver seat is pushed back, leaving the passenger seat in place, the back rest of the contraption on passenger seat causes discomfort to the driver. Bad design. I did not feel like driving this cheap car, so I did not take a TD of it.

Why is this car not sold in Europe where such cars are usually second cars for shopping trips and city driving.

This the most basic car. It does not have any safety features like ABS or airbags. Not sure about structural integrity as well. If I remember it correctly, it was at launch of Datsun go that there was a spat between Nissan-Renault and someone from global NCAP when someone from global NCAP had stressed about making safer cars for Asian countries as we'll.

It would be as safe as Indian alto and/ or nano.

ladt week was looking at the demo car which was inside our campus. Was shocked

The front seat was stitched in Shivajinagar and then I was searching where the hand brakes are, then realized that it is next to the gear stick. Wow what a place to keep that.

BUt one good thing was it has nice boot space and rear seat leg room

From my recent visit to a Nissan showroom:

      +ve:

      1. Boot space - easily class leading
      2. Road presence: Nearly as long as Swift, this car has road presence. Can easily dwarf Alto and the brigades. A big plus for Indian mindset.
      3. Engine: Better than 800 cc engines of Eon & Alto.

      -ves

      1. No feel good factor.
      2. Interior design, features are big let down as compared to Eon.
      3. No glove box (with lid).

This is a utility car for city run about. Can be considered as second car but given the growing aspiration level of Aam Junta , most first time buyers will stay away and probably embrace Eon instead.

+1. The boot space is large, even larger than most B1/B2 segment hatchbacks.

Don't think that anyone looking for his/her second car for city runabouts would buy D-GO. Only first time big family buyers with limited budget might have an interest in this car due to large boot space. For second car buyers, interiors would be a big let down, and EON might be preferred over it.
