      Bolero gets ABS

Mahindra has launched a special edition of its Bolero. Only 500 units of this edition will be manufactured.

The Mahindra Bolero special edition is based on the top-end ZLX trim and gets a new pearl white paint shade with sporty decals, European leather interiors and a music system with Bluetooth and USB compatibility. The big upgrade that differentiates it from other Bolero variants is that it also gets anti-lock braking system (ABS). There are no other mechanical changes.

The Mahindra Bolero special edition is expected to be priced at a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the ZLX variant.

I guess they want to increase the sales numbers of this good and steady work horse, which already has pretty steady sales figures in all months.

Good move but why only 500 units !! They could launch a facelift & make this ABS as standard. Much needed upgrade on their jackpot vehicle.

Definitely a sheer luck. I think this is comparable to Maruti's Esteem (not in numbers but in terms of constant sale in a long duration)

Bhai, I was under the impression that ABS present means its for all wheels. Is my understanding wrong ?

I was also ignorant till now.

What is the difference between rear-wheel ABS and four-wheel ABS?

Rear-wheel ABS, found on some pickup trucks, vans and SUVs, is designed to maintain directional stability and prevent the vehicle from skidding sideways, which can happen if the rear wheels lock. It will not enable steering control during a panic stop, because you can't steer if your front wheels are locked. If you're driving a vehicle with rear-wheel ABS, you should step firmly on the brake if you need to stop suddenly; however, if you feel the wheels begin to lock at a time when steering is necessary, you'll need to release some pressure from the brake in order to regain the ability to steer.

Four-wheel ABS, the type usually found on ABS-equipped passenger cars and some light trucks, is designed to maintain “steerability” during maximal braking. In an emergency braking situation, drivers of vehicles equipped with four-wheel ABS should step firmly on the brake pedal and hold it down. If necessary, you can try to steer around an obstacle in the road during a maximal braking effort, which wouldn't work without four-wheel ABS.

i have seen certain Buses (luxury buses , not your MTC) have an ABS sticker on the rear end . i was thinking it was just another sticker . but maybe even those meant REAR WHEEL ABS.
