for eg- EGT on my swift, when cruising at 100-120 in the morning is around 600
in the afternoon, when cruising at the same speed on the same highway- ambient temps would have gone up from 25 in the morning to 35-40- the EGT gauge shows 650-670
Is this even with the FFE?! The above figures are before or after FFE fitment? And, if yes, why dun you open up that green cotton and run it without the casings? Possible to try this and lemme know?

@ripper, what brand of EGT gauge are you running? And what is the cost?

I need one too as I am worried about temperatures. I am sure it is safe till now, but I wanted to make sure...

the egt gauge was installed with the turboback exhaust.
The temps i'm talking about are with the FFE.
The exhaust will not make a big difference to the egt, compared to having a nice cold air intake or a performance intercooler
Costs around 16k. Cant remember brand. It is combined with the boost gauge. Complete peace of mind. I can hit temps of 1000 very easily if i keep my foot planted in 4th and 5th gears. Driving conditions dont permit me to do that often. So, normally egt's are not an issue in daily driving.
@tadu, if you have not fried the engine after 4yrs of pedal to metal in 5th gear, its unlikely to happen now
You'll probably need an egt gauge only if you're upping the fuel/boost even further. Do you plan to?

btw- new egt gauges, i think are cheaper.
@autonut- removing the casing and cai pipe slowed the car down big time. Didnt have the gauge then. Not really keen on that experiment, because i know the filter will pull hot air from the engine bay direct.

I made some minor change in the settings recently, and wanted to make sure everything is alright.

hmm... this is a good info So what if you can make the engine bay itself more cooler? May be kinda scoops that sucks more and possible air into and cool the engine bay?
Juz experimenting in my mind for a cheaper methord to reduce EGT;-)

@autonut, lets head over to the "torturing the 1.3 DDIS" thread to discuss methods to blow up that engine.
