I had bought the Hella Ralley 500FF (pictured above) for my Ikon but never installed them as it required cutting the bumper. Which model ikon have you got? I think the latest variant doesn't need the bumper to be cut.

Bought a Verna now and decided to get the old Hellas installed on it. The obvious choice for installation was #Bay6 and they did a fabulous job right from making a strong set of clamps to doing a professional wiring without cutting or modifying any existing wires. I am just a little tied up work these days to write up a thread on the installation including WIP pictures.

The Ralley 500FFs themselves are just average, but have a very good throw. Like I said, I went with them since I already had them lying around. I use them as a replacement of my high beams, i.e they illuminate the background while the low beam illuminates the foreground. Basically something like having both the high and low beams on at the same time. Based on your requirement, you can do some research as well as discuss with Digital Vampire at Bay6 and choose the lights you want.

Thanks dude... I have Ford Ikon 1.3(2006 model) so guess the bumper might be a problem :-( Anyhow, I will check with Bay6.

I had mailed Hella USA regarding usage of higher wattage bulbs in the Ralley 500 and here is their response

We do not recommend that you use 100 watt bulbs in this lamp as the 500 is built and rated for the 55 watt bulbs. This can/will cause premature failure of the lamp.
      1) Melted housing
      2) melted wires
      3) Failure of the reflective material
      4) Cracking of the lens

If you are planning to extract more light out of HR500, the next step would be to go to to 50W HID capsules and it will involve physical modification to the rear housing.
But if your's is a HR500FF, I'd not recommend that since test results with HIDs were not anywhere near satisfactory - Came out with rabbit-ears like light pattern with tons of dark spots.

Among easily available lights, Rallye 4000 is the best bet if you want to go the HID route since many custom-aligned bases and burners are available for the same.

Yeah I remember your post in another thread regarding the HIDs in 500FF and I am not sure if I want to go the HID route. Might just upgrade the setup with something better out of the box when I have enough vitamin M.
