      Why i20
This is my second car. First one was Maruthi Omni which served me for 5 years. Did not want to part that as that was the first vehicle I purchased with my money. The demand for a new car made me look out for a replacement. The requirement was simple. My wife wanted an AC car and my kid wanted something with a stereo (I did not have even a stereo in my van). I was forced to look out for some car. I was looking for something which I can use it for long drives and which doesn’t make me tired after the drive (I am the only one who drive).

I looked into the maruthi stable to find out if any of their vehicles meets my requirement. I like the swift which has a proven record. I liked the car, but I wanted to give some more comfortable to my parents who will be sitting in the rear seats (requirement changed!!!). That’s when I heard about the launch of Ritz with the new K series engine. I was a regular visitor to their website to find out more about Ritz. Every time I look at the teasers, my heart told me why don’t they make the exterior little more attractive?. Once I saw the first Ritz on the road, I decided this is not my taste (requirement changed again!!!. This is when I realized that I need a good looking car).

Started looking for new releases and found Indica Vista. Liked the spacious interiors which can satisfy my parents. I was not a Tata fan as my sister owned one of the first versions of indica. Those experiences made me stay away from Tata stable. Also one of my friend who was working as a service advisor for Tata suggested to stay away from Tata as they test their vehicles on customers. Did not mean to hurt others who owns a Tata on this forum.

That’s when I heard about i20 from Hyundai. Liked the looks, interiors etc. Did some online research and found that the petrol version is little underpowered (Doesn’t matter for a guy who previously owned an omni). Loved the interiors especially the Asta version with steering mount controls. Discussed this with my home finance minister (wife) and finalized on the car.

      Buying Experience
After deciding the car, I submitted an online enquiry for the car and exactly after an hour, I got a call from Advaith Hyundai. One Miss Rashmi called up and took my requirements and clarified all doubts. She said there is a waiting period of 45 days as it was recently launched. I told her I need some time to think about it. She said she will give me a call after 3 days. In the meanwhile I thought of checking with Trident Hyundai also.

Went to Trident Hyundai at Hosur Road (Kudlu gate) as I was working nearby. I went to their show room and I spent almost 10 minutes inside the showroom and all the employees were busy doing nothing. I was the only customer inside the showroom. I got ****ed off and I was about to come out of the showroom, suddenly one lady in black suite appeared with a body language of “Why the hell are these people coming over here(I was not dressed that bad. Visited them with my professional office attire)”. I told her that I was interested in booking an i20 and wanted to know more about it. She showed me a black i20 (display vehicle) and told and me “You can have a look” and then handed over the price list. She desperately wanted to disappear from where she came. (As if she was busy in the kitchen and some salesman rang the home bell – kind of attitude). That’s when I decided, Not from Trident Hyundai.

Exactly on the third day, I got a call from Rashmi (Advaith Hyundai) asking if I have decided. She offered me a test drive to have a feel of the car and started explaining about the features and so on. As I have done enough research on the car, I told her that I have already decided on the car and I would like to do the booking. I told her that I will visit her during the weekend and make the booking.

Booked the car and got the delivery on the 43rd day of booking. I checked with Rashmi if I can get the mud flaps and mats as freebies. She said that since this is a newly launched vehicle and since there is lot of demand for the vehicle, the showroom doesn’t give anything for free. That’s when I decided I will do the insurance on my own. There was a savings of 9k in premium when I did the insurance on my own (I did it from Bajaj Alliance. Even Showroom guys does it with them). With that savings, I not only bought the mud flaps and mats, but I also purchased a “Black & Decker” car vaccum and a California Car duster(shipped it from USA).

While booking itself, I gave strict instruction that I would like to do a PDI before the vehicle goes for registration. So I got a call when my vehicle arrived in the stock yard. I went there are finished my PDI and gave a go ahead for the registration. Also paid the remaining amount on that day.

Next day I took the delivery of my vehicle.

Overall it was a wonderful experience with Advaith. They were very professional.

      Wonderful ownership report there Anwar.

      Loved the first pic.

However one question, in these days of rising petrol prices why not buy a CRDi?

And yes, I do agree with you completely on the lack of professionalism on the part of Trident. Complete useless fellows. The only reason dad didn't end up buying a Getz CRDi is because those guys at Trident, Cauvery Theatre junction didn't attend to my dad even after 30 mins. And they didn't have a CRDi TD vehicle and asked my dad to drive the petrol Getz which is also "exactly the same" .

Unfortunately, we picked up a Swift. Advaith is a million times better though. If I was going to buy a Hyundai it would have to be from Advaith.

I drove my first vehicle for 5 years and clocked only 22K. Hate driving in the bangalore traffic. I thought I will not drive that much but things are different now. I have already done 2 Kerala trips.

Nice review. The first pic is good. Hows the ride at the rear? When I took a test drive, the rear was uncomfortable and bumpy (took it straight after a Punto test drive)

Rahul- Think he bought it in the initial months of release and there was no CRDi at that point.

Surprised to hear bad reviews about Trident sales people; coz whenever I went, I was attended to immediately both at IRR showroom and Hosur road showroom. I also took a test drive of Getz Crdi from Trident, Hosur road. And I was crappily dressed (read shorts, sports shoes and full of sweat after a round of tennis) on most occassions other than when I went with my wife.

Nicely written Review. Some more snaps pls. The Glove Box is quite big and a mileage of 15 in city is quite good.

And I am surprised with your troubles with Trident. My experience so far has been excellent right from the booking and delivery. *touches wood*

Krish, I was always the driver (No one drives except me in my family).Never got the priviledge to sit at the back seat except when the car is parked. Maybe we can check this with the other i20 owners here. Sorry Krish, I couldnt answer your query !
