Talking Finally I am Baleno-fied... Welcome Isabella.

So finally, after 3 years of working in an IT firm, and then pursuing an MBA and then returning back to IT in sales, I finally bought my first car.

I had driven our family Alto for quite sometime and I needed a performance car. I am done with hatchbacks with no power. I just needed power, hungry for more. And I was looking only for second hand cars, as I did not want to spend money now. ( Single, about to be married, madness for a few more months **cough**/years). Decided to let the wife-in-future decide the future of our-to-be-new-car. So it was a second hand for me.

So I had shortlisted a few cars:

      1. Civic - We all know stories of Pre-Worshipped goddesses, so no more to chat up there.
      2. Baleno/Accent - Well simply because they had 88-94+ bhp, affordable, but not cheap to maintain.
      3. Beat - Why? Damn a hatchback with 88 PS of power, no joke.
      4. City - Dolphin/Splitbonet or what ever shape that was called, simply because it was another Honda.

Finally went about hunting. I was so into Civic seconds, that everyday I used to read tons of documents and find out about problems with it, repairs and costs, places to get cheap spare, so much so that I made my very own document running into many pages. I have attached it, those who wish to buy Civic, may go through it. The document is very thorough and took me over six months to make.

Anyhow, I was almost ready with a 2006 Civic, costing me close to 3.5 L, with just 40k on the ODO. But then mom calls and asks me if I could spare some money home.
Thats when dawned me, I am not a kid anymore. Like an average Indian, I need to be responsible, and let go of the Civic dream. I have retired(now) parents to look after and a home to make soon. So I decided to reduce my budget to as low as 1-1.5L, and send rest of the money home.
Now I was contemplating buying a seconds Santro or even Indica. But somehow, almighty helped me here.

Somehow, down the OLX ads, I saw the ad for a First-Owner Baleno, run only 24k kms, for sale. And the price - 1.5 L.
I knew this was the baby for me. I instantly arranged a test drive and took the car to my mechanic and even he said it was a steal. Finally after negotiations, I got Isabella for plain 95k INR.

I decided to go ahead and say yes. A silver Baleno, with authentic mileage, driven by a (late) ex-army officer and the car was in the name of his son, who settled in US, had come back for the officer's last rites.
They just wanted to move out of the country and dispose of the car. I did some profile check of Social media, FB, LinkedIn, etc and also looked into insurance claim. All is well.
Many times I questioned myself, if something is really fishy here. But somehow, heart sank in, and I gave up to the pure power and awesome-ness of the Baleno. Exhilaration personified.
Its not that great in shape, with loose bumpers, and few dents here and there. I will be getting the car tomorrow, i.e, Thursday 10th July, 2014. I have decided to give the car for servicing in Baner, to a mechanic called Sathesh Shetty, his centre being near Baner. Don't trust em' A.S.S.
And I have asked him to just repair the dents without painting. Because what I love next most to driving? "Painting". You can ask fordfan about the elbow grease I was involved with my bike(Bruna) CBR.

I shall post more pics as I get her after service on Friday. Saturday, its a morning drive to Lonavala.

P.s. : As I enrolled in a one-year MBA from Great Lakes chennai, I had to stay away from GearHeads for more than a year, due to hectic schedule. But, boy I miss this forum.

P.P.s : The forum has grown real big, and I am yet unaware, where to post this thread. (Ownership/Personal) etc. I hope the admin will post in the right place if this is wrong.
