I think I did - Total damages 1453 incl 566 for replacement LH door mirror insert.
The break up Service 850 + 87.55 tax
      Mirror 454.50+61.36 tax

I think I had paid about Rs.450 for the mirror insert in my Accent a couple of years back. The mirror figure was in error.

What about oil change? And what are the Civic service intervals? I remember Honda used to have a 3 months service interval once upon a time.

The manual talks of six months/10,000km. Dealers call you every three months. You need not go. With synthetic Honda permits 12 months/10,000km. As I had put in Mobil 1 last time round there was no need for an oil change. I may use their own brand (Idemitsu) synth (0W30) next time since it is cheaper by about 25% than Mobil1.

sgiitk - Mirror costs only 450?? Was that a heated mirror or a plane one?? For my Camry it costs 3k only for the mirror

Also you mentioned that with Synthetic 12 months/10k KM is allowed, however with Corolla and Camry service interval is 10k KM or 1 year ( whichever is earlier) and they don't use synthetic oil. So my question is why is civic oil change interval is very less?

camchennai; Common wisdom is that once a year is desirable, but I will happily go for 15-20k on synthetic. I also think anything more than once a year is a con, but in the warranty period you do not have too many options.

All my cars for the past 20 years plus have gone for once a year once the warranty is over. I will also switch. The extended warranty is a bigger con - How many cars have a power train failure in less than 100,000km?

Forgot this part; Mirror was just the glass, and possibly its plastic carrier.

Agreed. In case of using Synthetic oil one can go upto 15k kms. That again depends upon the weather conditions. If the surroundings are very dusty, its better to get it changed after 10k kms.

sgiitk : I would recommend you to carry on with Mobil 1. Its definitely better than Idemitsu which Honda uses. I had a friend who used to work for Caltex (Chevron) which unfortunately has wrapped operations in India. He told me that its not one of the best engine oils to use. They have a Japani-Japani bhai bhai attitude . I used Caltex Havoline. It was one of the best engine oils I have ever used for the price. It would cost half as much as Mobil 1 or Helix Ultra and while idling even if you stood next to the car you cannot make out that its idling. The engine used to be super silent, extremely fuel efficient and very responsive. But sadly, its no more available . You can also try Shell Helix Ultra. I use it in my OHC and the Palio. Its pretty good as well. I totally agree with you that the extended warranty is just a sham run by the dealers and company so that they have their customers intact to whom they can sell the consumables.
Competition setup going active soon ;)

Linea-Lover; Yes I agree that Mobil1 is the best. The points against using it are

      1. Cost <1000 per litre, and I pay for 3.67l only v 4800 for a 4l can.
      2. Mobil1 is SAE0W40 while 0W30 is Ok. Theoretically, a minor improvement in fuel consumption, this will most probably be insignificant.
      3. Convenience I have to search and get Mobil 1 (from Gwalior) which Idemitsu is right there.

In any case I think the oil story is over emphasised. Any good oil should give you 200,000km + without a sweat.
