Are you sure Mobil 1 suitable for Diesels. It is essentially a Petrol engine oil.

I use Mobil1 0W40 fully synthetic oil for Palio Diesel since first free service and now odometer reading is around 135000kms.Till date no issues.Service interval is 15000kms.But if your usage is less than dont go for Fully synthetic, try Semi synthetic from Shell helix ultra.

Just compare the Cx ratings and you will know, what I am talking about. In General a Diesel oil in a petrol engine may be preferable to the other way round.

It is mentioned on Mobile site that Mobile is recommended for Diesel WITHOUT DPF. From internet I found Cruze has a DPF.

Note: Read from some forum that Punto doesn't have DPF. May be that is the reason Mobile is recommended by Fiat.

I will say that instead of going by folklore can we not just check the Cn ratings. This is the most scientific and correct way. Many ASS's are asses.

The wiki article and the below ref from api.org clearly mentioned that C specification(Diesel) will meet the requirements of S specification(petrol) but not the other way. The only exceptions are displayed in the respective oil specifications and it should be only used for those mentioned cases(Mobil1 is recommended for BMW, Porsche cars ) and not for other cars.
