2003 Indica V2 DLS white smoke

I have a 2003 Indica V2 DLS (Diesel) when I start the car(cold start) there is a cloud of white smoke from exhaust and when I push the accelerator pedal half way then the car will hesitate and produce white smoke continuously. What could be wrong? This does not happen when the car reaches the optimal heat level(center mark).
Is this normal? I have changed the air filter yesterday so its not air filter at fault.
      Help

      Thanks

A blown headgasket! Get the engine re-built ASAP. Or you may end up getting stranded on the road with a seized engine and end up causing more damage to the internals!

Oh my thats a bad news. Any other things that might indicate that its a blown head gasket?
Although I know Indica is not a powerful car and with the 175/65 section tyres its even slower
And yeah sometimes the car refuses to start when I drive with AC on and park the car and when i crank the car does not start, battery goes out in 3-4 cranks could it be the battery?

      Thanks

Not sure if it is a blown headgasket if the white smoke stops after the car reaches the optimum temperature. However, here is a simple test to see if there is any leak of the coolant into your combustion chamber!

First up, you need to check your coolant level (please NEVER open the radiator cap when the engine is hot) to see if you are loosing coolant! If not, then looks like it is something else (maybe its blue smoke and it seems to you as if its white! You could double check!)

When the car is cold (say parked overnight), open the radiator cap and see if the coolant level is less, if yes, then top it up!

With the radiator cap open crank the car. Since the car has a working thermostat (I am assuming) as the engine heats up, you will start noticing bubbles in the radiator and the level will start to drop slowly. If the car does not have a thermostat valve, you will see water gushing out of the radiator (only if its a blown HG).

If the above phenomenon happens, its a sure shot indicator that coolant is entering your combustion chamber and it "MIGHT" be a blown head gasket!

I say might as I am not sure about the design of the the Indica's engine, for eg. in the Honda, there could be other ways through which the coolant can find its way to the exhaust and cause that white smoke, so it need not necessarily be a blown head gasket!

Just a small correction, once you crank the car with a open radiator cap, you will see bubbles constantly and the coolant will ooze out of the radiator (the level wont drop unless you shut the engine off or there is a massive leak in the HG)

Every car has a radiator and a radiator cap! You need to look into the radiator and not the coolant overflow box! You could do a google search for figuring out where the radiator of the indica is! Generally its sticking towards the front grille of the car, with the cap on top reading " NEVER OPEN WHEN HOT"!!

I dont know how to tag therefore quoting.
As you can see maverick said that there is a radiator cap in all radiator cars and you yourself had an Indica can you please tell me where it is located?

      Thanks
