Lightbulb Spares Cost and Availability of GRAND I10

      Hi Folks,

been a long time since i visited and now back on track. Two days earlier , i accidentily broke my Side view mirror covers. But the mirror works fine, only just the outer cover has broken. Called JAIN HYUNDAI , Vellore regarding replacement mirror cover and to my surprise , service advisor asked me to change the entire side view mirror, since HYUNDAI still doesnot produces spares for GRAND I10.

If i am right , its almost an year completed and a million car sale achieved by GRAND I10 and strange thing is non availability of spares.

Requesting fellow gearheads to chip in and please post service and spares cost of GRAND I10 ( WAT-SO-EVER AVAILABLE). so that it will be useful to know what they have in stock.

Also , HYUNDAI service advisor told me that G -I10 (GRAND I-10) dash and instrument panel are molded that cant be diamanteled. i asked him to correct the fitting of the panel and this was the reply from him and claimed that it cannot be done. is it true ?

If the cover has cracked, you can get them welded resprayed. No need to buy a new one. I just had my bumper welded and resprayed at a fraction of the cost of a new one.

They have special welding rods for plastic welding. Hot air is used to melt it into the crack after some prep work. Motorcycle fairings are repaired the same way.

The results were very good. Look below.
I am sure they do this in India. Its a waste of money buying a new bumper. A new bumper would have cost about US1000 or more painted. The repair of this bumper cost me about US150 but it was a special price for me because I send him customers, otherwise about US400. The crack was about 25 cm long
All plastic car parts have a code moulded on them that shows the correct grade welding rods to use.

i own a honda city which faces a lot of abuse (travelling to construction sites, bad roads etc) so i need to get its bumpers repaired every 6-8 months at a local workshop. At the workshop, they repair bumpers by plastic welding. After filling and respray, its impossible to determine whether the bumper is repaired.

IMO any decent workshop or garage would be able to do this. Its very common, at least here in delhi.

even while i type, the car is at the workshop i'l post some pics once its back.
