Suggestions needed, decent 2.1 or bookshelf speakers

All guru's please help me decide on which 2.1 / bookshelf speakers I can get for my computer.

      Budget - 15k max ( not a rupee more )

Want a 2.1 or any equivalent which has good bass and highs.

So far had finalised on the Logitech Z623 , was looking for the Harmon Kardon Sounstricks III but no stock anywhere

So pls suggest something better than Z623 or provide me with reviews of the Z623 based on your listening experience.

Z623 costs 8.5k on snapdeal from a good seller is it worth it ?

      Link : Logitech Z623

Pls suggest something i can get in India/ Dubai .

      Thanks guys,

      #ICE #Chennai #dubai #bangalore etc.

Go and check out the Bose soundlink mini at around 16k. it supports both bluetooth and Aux in. Portable, very small footprint, 5 hours battery back up and most importantly awesome sound quality, can easily fill a small room, so as a desktop no issues.
I was almost attracted to implement Mi10's 'floating point imaging' with it in my car.

this is one of the rare occasions I liked something from the BOSE stable.

HAHA , floating point imaging . He told me he iced the fiesta again and i drove from adyar to tambaram to hear it and got a very big bulb

I've heard the soundlink mini and like it, would get the soundlink 3 if i wanted a portable speaker ji , but want something which can go louder than the mini and more bass if needed more than the mini. Initially thought of the soundlink 3 but decided portable made no sense to me cause of its portable nature.

So any suggestions for bookshelf's or anything else ?

First Question: What sound card do you have in your computer system?
You'd be defeating the investment in a good speaker system unless your sound card can supplement them with a clean source. Most on-board solutions can be termed bare-basics except for very few motherboards which comes with Wolfson DACs and THX certifications - Even they were not too great IMHO!

Second Question: Music/Movies/Games? Also what bit-rate?

I'm not a BOSE fan, but for PC audio, I'm currently using Bose Companion 5. It was in the closet for some 4+ years, but after trying almost half-a-dozen speaker systems including some high-end Logitechs, expensive bookshelves and towers, I'm back again to the BOSE system now. It's simple and sounds very very clean and doesn't take up too much desk space. I'm loving it! These are unlike those mainstream BOSE audio systems which actually sounds doctored.

Sitting on a standard size desk, this one even places the speakers at the correct level. Don't let that dimunitive 6.5" subwoofer fool you - It is a very well designed active-sub which can play very low and fast with absolute integration. And since it has its own internal USB DAC, no hassles with PC sound card or power supply noises either! - It can clearly bring out the difference between those 320kbps MP3s and Lossless Audio - Highly recommended for lossless music and I do enjoy listening to almost every music genre from Sopranos to Operas to Ghazals to Death Metal. It can go quite loud too when needed. When I had it placed along with the tower speakers, many "audiophool" friends indeed thought it was the towers singing, but it was actually these tiny guys doing the heavy-lifting!

It's slightly on the costlier side but think of it as a combined investment in a high quality DAC plus Speaker System - Then it'll start to make a lot of sense!.

+1. Also check out the M-Audio AV40. Do invest in a DAC though.

      Cheers.

Here is a very simple, cost and space saving solution I use. It produces much more base than my laptop speakers

And it is indeed a lapTOP speaker and it costs all of 650 rupees

      Double the budget
Digital Vampire & shrayv I barely listen to music much on my laptop, maybe 20% of the total time i spend listening in a day, mostly just movies and that also maybe 1 or 2 in a while . The rest of the time i spend on media is in my home theatre so I dont think I need to spend on dac's and better soundcards So just something good right off the shelf maybe ? Also will change laptop soon will post a thread for that also and will list the parameters as good dac

Don't have it. But was on the lookout for it. You can find it on Pro Audio Home and Saptaswara Musicals. I do have a Schiit Modi DAC. I think Saptaswara can arrange for a demo.

      Cheers.
