XUV500 owners - Need help for modification

I could have bought W8 but then I did not like inbuilt electronics, specially the audio system so idecided to buy w4 and infuse saved money towards high class accessories, I amalso planing to fit my spare iPad as a screen but not sure if there are any installers out here who can modify the head unit and fit my Ipad.

First of all i wanthelp in choosing right set of speakers and amplifier.I am in US for some timeso can buy good quality stuff from here hoping it would work in Indiancars. Please help me getting answer of following questions -

-What size speakershould I buy and how many ?
-What should be thedesired output of speakers ? Should it match with Amp's output ?
-How many channelsand power needed for an amplifier to work best with XUV ?
-BOSS/ALPINE/PIONEER/BLAUPUNKT/SOUNDFORGE- which is best. Most of these cost same in US.

Would also appreciateif i get pointer to a good installer or accessories sales guy in Pune.

Thanks for the timeand happy riding guys !!

Speakers and subwoofers you are better off buying in India only with warranty. You name the best brands around the world and we have them all in India already. And the pricing is quite similar to the pricing in US/Europe plus you get warranty as well should something go wrong.

You will need at least a 4ch amp to run fronts + rears and a monoblock to run a subwoofer. Again, most of the good brands are in India already. If you really want to buy something from the US, then the only amps I'd be carrying from there are the JL Audio HD series.

      The two below:

      HD600/4 - Car Audio - Amplifiers - HD - JL Audio

      HD750/1 - Car Audio - Amplifiers - HD - JL Audio

Or a single one of these:

      HD900/5 - Car Audio - Amplifiers - HD - JL Audio

I wouldn't be bothered to carry anything else from the US.

However, what you can bring from the US is a good HU which you don't get easily in India. Good cheap wiring kits and RCAs. That is what I'd focus on bringing from US if I were you.

A Pioneer 80PRS if you want a Single DIN HU. A Alpine 2-DIN if you want a touch screen.

XUV500 door pads will have to be cut to fit 6.5" speakers. So you have to be prepared for that as well.

As for fixing an I-Pad, that will involve extensive Fiberglass work. Can be done in India.

I am planning to buy few wiring kits and as suggested by mclaren1885 and may be a HU. is HU easily replaceable in XUV500 ? I heard its hard to replace and I have W4 so i believe its hard to fit 2DIN there. Please suggest !!

I am still thinking whether i should buy AMP and speakers from US or not. My budget is not more than $500 for all all electronics !! Has anyone ever shortlisted these products from USA ?

      Thanks

There are only a handful of people who've been able to do a good job at replacing the XUV console with 2-DIN and make them look good. Most of them are good at fiberglass and wood work and needs custom work. Most installers will take around 3-4 days to redesign the console to fit a 2-DIN. And will cost anywhere between 8-15k depending on the extent of work and which part of the country you come from.

Here is some of the work we've done so far.

You can get similar work done on your XUV from any competent installer in your city.

What are the brands you have access to there? If you could tell us that we can help you pick some stuff up by providing you links. Though, even by US standards 500$ is quite less. If I were you, I'd look at doubling that amount so that getting stuff from there, risking excess luggage, possible customs check and customs pay is worth it if you get some fancy stuff not easily available in India. It would be a pity if you got caught in customs, they ask you to pay and the basic stuff ends up costing more than the price here, right?

Amazing work on these dashboard mate, I wish you were in Pune !! I am completely down for these design, even the price you charge is pretty affordable !! Do you know anyone in Pune/Mumbai who can do this work ?

Looking at your work, I can certainly say that it wont be hard for you to hook an Ipad there. Are these custom units are detachable ? Can the screen be replaceable if something goes wrong ?

These can be taken out at any point you want. Completely serviceable.

I looked at the link you gave, honestly nothing good that I'd put my personal money on. But if you insist on getting from Walmart here is what you can pick up.

      Amp for speakers.

Walmart: Cadence 135W x 4 RMS Vegas Amplifier

      Amp for sub

      Walmart: Pioneer Gm-d9601 2,400W Class-D Mono Amp

Only set of speakers I found decent.

      Walmart: MBQuart QS216 6.5in 2-Way Component System

      Amp wiring kit

Walmart: Rockford Fosgate RFK4I 4 AWG Gauge Installation Amplifier/Amp Kit
