Baleno 2007 - suspension alternative to stock -

      HI All,

I have a 2007 Baleno and my shocks have become soft and weak and easily crape on load and our unscientifically designed humps. I know we dont have much options aftermarket, I would like to know whether we still have any alternatives for stock suspensions which are very expensive.

      1. can I get Koni/Peddars/TRW/KYB? which one is available even today and which one is actually best?
      2. How to source them, any contacts ? (as I dont know much people and whoever I have met have not been found reliable, I dont want to take the risk of being mugged or cheated)
      3. my Ball joint and Tie rod ends are making noise and my car has run about 81K now? is it advisable to go for stock spares or aftermarkets as I understand these are critical spares for reliability? ( SGP will cost me around 29400 for ball joint(2500), tie rod end(2800) and Lower arms(9400)
      4. Any other alternatives apart from replacements?

I'm running TRW on my car and I'm happy. Ride is really nice and a bit stiffer than stock.

Koni are out of production if I'm not wrong.

You should get TRW in most decent automobile spares store in your city.

I changed my ball joint, lower arms, tie rod ends as well, can't remember the brand name at the moment.

Konis are still in production but not sure if they are still made in the Netherlands. The motorcycle shockabsorber production has been sold to Australia and now marketed as the Ikon. I have a pair on my bike.

I meant Koni for the Baleno. They told us that production for the car was stopped and that they couldn't source a set from any part of the globe.

I remember the KYB when they appeared in the market around 1977. They were advertised as 'Best Japanese Quality' gas shocks and sold for 1/3 the price of the Sachs gas shocks but the tube was half the thickness of the Sachs
I bought 2 shocks for the rear wheels on my Mazda and they lasted about a week. Got a new pair and after a few days, all the gas had leaked out and the dealer gave me 2 Sachs gas shocks as compensation.
Times have changed after over 40 years and quality is much better, still I will stick to my trusty Sachs, Gabriel or Boge shocks that been on the market for perhaps a 100 years. The money you save is peanuts and the 3 year warranty is sorted out over the counter.
Last week I replaced my front brake discs and my front Sachs dampers had no leaks after 265,000 km.
If ride comfort is an issue, try to fit progressive springs and good brand shock absorbers.
